Great series! You may need to look elsewhere for more in depth coverage though!
The Joes2Pros series is a great beginning series that covers a lot of topics with such clarity and brevity you start to feel that you're almost an expert after going through Morlean's book. These series alone have helped me pass some Microsoft tests and helped me to get a great foundational understanding of SQL Server 2012 Administration. The problem with the Joes2Pros series is that you may still need to do some additional studying and consult some other texts for more in-depth knowledge on topics if you're trying to land a position. I got caught "by surprise" when I tried to interview for some positions because I lacked some of the depth that some employers were looking for. However, if you're truly a beginner (like me) this should be the 1st series you consult to understand quickly, (I was able to get through the two books in about a month) and then you can branch out to other texts for more knowledge.

Try elsewhere.
The book is good but the series is incomplete so I had to go elsewhere to get the majority of the information.

Their way of teaching and my way of learning are sympatico
Have not read a book by Rick Morelan and Pinal Dave that disappointed. Hands on exercises, questions and answers. All about database roles, logins and permissions. I am not a DB admin and wanted a better understanding of SQL Server. It is a very readable, doable and informative introduction to SQL Server admin. It is not a cram book for 70-462. It provides real knowledge but not 70-462 answers. If you get volume 2, you may also want to get volume 1. Volume 1 says that it is an exam prep for 70-462 and Volume 1 of 5. Someone made 2 mistakes with that statement (only 2 not 5 volumes and not a prep) Volume 1 is mainly about backups and recovery.
