Dechra EicosaDerm Omega 3 Liquid for Dogs & Cats - Nutritional Fatty Acid Supplement, 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)

This product was recommended by my veterinarian. It has improved my dog’s coat enormously. However, the bottle leaks from the cap over time, the product smells horrible and the price keeps going up BUT it’s an excellent product and I will keep using it.

This was recommended by my vet for my long haired dachshunds’s dry itchy skin. She can’t be without it or her skin goes right back to incredibly dry. She gets 2 pumps every day on her breakfast.

Our older dog, Rufus, scratched all of the time and we tried so many different things to try and give him some relief from the itching, but nothing seemed to work. Then, my sister told me she used Dechra EicosaDerm Omega 3 Liquid for her dog, it worked and he liked the taste. I was a bit hesitant because we had already tried fish oil and it did nothing, but I decided to give it a try. I got it and and tried it. Rufus likes the taste, and it took about 4-6 weeks before we saw any results, but he has literally stopped scratching completely. I buy the larger bottle. Rufus likes the taste and I just put 3 shirts on his food one time per day. It does smell like fish oil, and you will need to wash the food dish regularly because it sticks to the dish. We switched to a metal dish because it is easier to clean. This is a product that actually does what it says it will do and it is definitely worth a try to give your pet some relief.

This stuff really works to help reduce shedding. Our dogs were shedding a lot all year long until we started putting a few drops a day on their dog food. We have really noticed the difference. We also tried a cheaper alternative, which did not work well compared to this. It also reduced scratching, and helped with a shiny coat. It was originally recommended by our vet, but I found it to be less expensive on here. We will keep using it although it is a little expensive.

Cannot find a way to connect with product support about this item. The pump keeps leaking after use. I cleaned off the bottle to be sure and it seaps out around the top after using the pump. This is frustrating because the liquid is not cheap and I don't know what to do.

I think I've done a similar review in the past. First of all, there's too much liquid in a new bottle. Do not put the pump into the bottle until you have drained a little out. I've used this product for years and it seems great for my dog. Anyway, I drain some of the new bottle into my old, almost empty bottle, then put the new pump in the new bottle. The second trick is to fold a paper towel several times until it's about 3" tall. Wrap the long part of the folded towel very tightly around the bottle between the pump and the bottle, then secure with a sturdy rubber band wrapped around the paper towel several times. This method lets the leaky bottle/pump liquid be absorbed into the paper towel.

I give it to my dogs as part of an approach to keep hip dysplasia and other problems at bay. They always eat it with their food unlike my experience with another version of the product.
