Good USB switch
Works just like a normal On/Off switch. Uses basic USB male and female ends.

Woks with Data
Works great. I have a usb CarPlay adaptor in my truck. And have to unplug the usb cable so that the phone wont try to connect to the trucks CarPlay when calls come in and I am away from the truck. Now I just flip the switch completely disconnecting the CarPlay adaptor. Yes this unit works with data. Others I have bought do not. Some mention this bit of information others do not.

Great for fans and lights in car camping
The RIITOP USB Extension Cable with ON/Off Switch is a game-changer for car camping! The built-in switch is incredibly convenient—it lets me keep my devices like a fan and LED lights plugged in while easily controlling when they’re powered on or off. No more fumbling with plugs in the dark; just a quick toggle, and I have instant control. The 3.3ft length is perfect for reaching across my setup, and the cable itself feels sturdy and reliable. Having two in a pack is a bonus, allowing me to manage multiple devices with ease. If you're into car camping and want an efficient way to control your power sources, this cable is a must-have!

This product does function as an on/off USB device, but allows data to pass through.
Backstory ========== So far as my situation goes, have a misbehaving series of USB mice where it seems the USB receiver is more driven by software than hardware and can be nixed by the Ghosts of USB Selective Suspend. Thus on certain random reboots/power-offs/etc, the mouse MIGHT take take a LONG time to be detected. It's more reliable when plugged in to a hub, and allegedly better still when the hub is self-powered. But waiting and waiting can be a bit Annoying, and even being sneaky and resetting the hub/port with the "devcon restart" command doesn't work. One way to speed up the process is to remove/re-insert the USB receiver, and this On/Off USB cable should (theoretically) do the same thing without the hassle of unplugging the device. Guess it will take a few days and a few reboots and a bit of luck to see if this On/Off switch will actually be the SAME as "removing the device" for this particular USB mouse receiver. Time will tell. And one particular system may well Adapt (like the Borg) and find new ways to Not Work. Product Observations =================== This particular On/Off USB cable is about 40" long. - the longer portion of the cable is about 33" long. - the short portion (by the switch) is about 5" long. - the part with the "switch" is about 2 1/4"L x 6/8"W x 7/8"H (counting the rocker switch). The rocker switch itself has a "|" mark for "on", and no marking for "off". The instructions listed on the product page appear to describe the opposite. One advantage for this cable over other brands is that other brands usually have the "switch" in the middle of the cable, whereas this product has the "switch" closer to end which makes the "switch" easier to reach and easier to use. And as a certain mouse receiver can get a better signal if it's not behind the PC, this product also doubles as a USB extension cord. The "Data" Question =================== DOES THE ON/OFF SWITCH "TURN OFF DATA"?? Answer: *NO* it does *NOT* "turn off data" - data remains *ON* no matter what position the switch is in. I think the theory behind the selling argument is that the on/off switch cuts "off" the power line from the USB port it is connected to, but nothing else. If the device draws power from that port, then when the switch is "off" the device has no power. A device without power = "no data". In short: IF your USB device has it's *own* power supply - such as a USB printer or a USB device which uses two ports - then data WILL flow no matter how the switch is set. Ex: Connected this On/Off cable to my USB printer which draws power from an electrical outlet. - Set to "On" and printed a test page. - Set to "Off" and printed a test page. Power comes from the electrical outlet and not the USB port. (Update) Although I have stumbled over some registry and powercfg settings that appear (appear) to prevent the mouse's USB receiver from getting zapped-on-reboot with several systems (so far), on one particular system the registry "fix" only lasted for two days. Makes me think some driver/program/application/device is interfering with the OS Selective Suspend nonsense and this particular USB mouse's receiver is sensitive enough to Get The Axe. On that system, this product DOES successfully off/on the receiver once the system has booted to the desktop - with one odd side effect. The receiver USED to initialize on it's own if I gave it an extra 1-2 minutes, but now that I can force it "alive" on demand it seems to be sulking and won't initialize on it's own anymore. Guess I could delete/re-install the Root Hubs, or just keep using this cable and Declare Victory (of sorts). Am going to get a few extra of these cables. Although modifying the registry/powercfg seems to have worked in several instances, it's a good idea to have a fallback plan.

Works well
RIITOP USB Extension Cable with ON/Off Switch USB Male to Female Cable Support is basically a USB cable that has an On/Off switch. The switch means that you can leave the device plugged in, but have a way to toggle when/if the computer will be able to "see" the device. This works perfectly for MIDI devices (and I'm sure plenty of other devices too). The build quality is pretty good, and has been holding up quite well.

Economic solution
At purchase time this 2-pack of switches was less expensive than some other brand's single pack of comparable item. Please note, this switch is capable of carrying data – other cheaper switches may only be capable of carrying power – buyer beware you are getting what you intend to use for the correct purpose. As an "in-line" switch the function is exactly as expected. I use this for my WebCam and have never had an issue with connectivity, lag or other video/audio issue, while it's "off" position disconnects the camera entirely providing greater security and assured disconnection to the camera. The only minor drawback was that it is not immediately apparent which way the switch is thrown, or which side is on/off. This may depend on your environment and how well lighted it is, but for me the black switch on black case did not present clearly at a glance which position the switch was in. A simple modification remedied the problem but it would be nice if it was provided directly from the box.

Works as intended.
I have a new kitten that has no boundaries. My gaming PC desk is her playground no matter how many times I place her on the floor. I play Civ 6 which crashes regularly with the push of the wrong keyboard button. I bought these to prevent her from crashing my game while I'm playing. It disables the keyboard, and when I need the keyboard I flip the switch and it's active again with no issues. I don't have to fumble with plugging and unplugging my keyboard. My PC is under the desk, so the USB connections are not convenient access. If you own a cat....I recommend this product.
