Love these boots...
The Freebird Irish riding boots are a very different boot, they appear old and well worn, just what I was looking for. I didn't want a shiny black boot, so I got the distressed Stone color. The boots fit narrow around the ankle, lots of room on the foot bed for my foot. As I am 5ft 2" they are a little too high for the length of my leg, but they are not uncomfortable. (size 7) . I usually wear a 6, sometimes a 6 and a half so after reading other reviews I ordered a size 7 and they are fine. I also read reviews that say their boots took a bit of time to break in so I'm sure they will be fine. I also read a review which suggested to run a graphite pencil up the zipper, this made the zipper easy to use. I would buy these boots again.

Put to a huge test on the first day I wore it!
I wear size 7.5 and bought a size 8. Perfect fit with socks (smart wool ) probably can use heavier socks and it will work.First day I wore it I walked from Port Authority 8th Ave & 41st, New York, NY 10001 to 610 W 56th St, New York, NY 10019. Google it and you see how far it was (about 14 street blocks and 3 avenue blocks). I walked both ways and these boots are the BEST ever!! Didn't hurt, no blisters ... impressive!! I would buy it again - worth every penny!! They are not only comfortable but I get tons of compliments on it!!Buy it and you will not regret it!

But I can't see how anyone could be happy with these boots as they are the most uncomfortable ...
I understand that these boots are leather, so they are extremely tough. But I can't see how anyone could be happy with these boots as they are the most uncomfortable boot I've ever put on my foot. I am usually a size 6.5 narrow foot and I ordered a 7, and I couldn't even walk it hurt so bad! I have skinny calfs and the boot was so large around my leg that it looked so ridiculous that I couldn't even try the second one on. Just put them right back in the box and sent them away. I wouldn't suggest anyone buy these boots.

Love these boots
I love these boots. The color is perfect. They were a little stiff at first but now that they are broken in, they are very comfortable. There is plenty of room for jeans, they could be a little smaller at the top.

Tight all over, narrow toe box, stiff leather, zipper gets stuck. But gorgeous!
I first spotted these boots in a department store and tried on the black color. I fell in love with the style but I was looking for brown boots and the pair in the store were stiff especially around the ankles. So I decided to buy the Cognac boots online hoping it was just that particular pair. I received them today and they're gorgeous. The straps around the ankle enhance their appearance, the color is exactly like pictured in the photo, and the heel is high enough that they're sexy yet walkable. However, they're so very uncomfortable! The leather is rigid, the toe box is narrow (and I don't have particularly wide feet), and it was a struggle to pull the zipper down out of the box. Getting the boots on and off was a struggle - the zipper catches the entire length of the boot! I don't have wide calves and the boot was tight all over. If you purchase these boots, know you'll need a breaking-in period. I bought a pair of Frye boots along with these and the difference is like night and day. I've been looking for another brand of boots to fall in love with and was hoping Freebird would win me over. This pair didn't do it for me so I'll have to return them. I just couldn't imagine making them my "go-to" boots that I'd wear everyday. In summary, they're beautiful boots but you'll be sacrificing comfort for style.

good boot for the right price...
I have had these boots for about a week. I wear a size 10 (10.5 in athletic shoes) and size 10 in this boot was perfect. I did not think they were too narrow but my feet are not wide. They are tall, I'm 5' 7" and they come about an inch below my knee, so they might not be good for shorter people. The leather is stiff but I hope that it will break in over time. The stain looks sloppy, not like in the picture (cognac) but I don't mind this because I like the look. I paid $180 for these boots and think that they are worth it at that price, I think that you can do better for $300.

Well made, large calf.
Very sturdy well constructed leather. Should last a good long while! (Boots stand upright on their own!). Very large in the calf but the size 11 actually fit my long foot. I'm probably closer to a 12. Smell great and I really love the distressed leather. Very slippery on the toes side of the footprint.

Excellent quality!
The quality is outstanding, which matches the price point. They fit true to size but maybe just a tad smaller. I'm an 8.5-9 and the 9 fit perfectly snug, so had half sizes been offered the 8.5 may have been too small.
