The new kitchen was being installed in the large room at the rear of the house and getting water to that point from where the town water comes into the small basement in the front is difficult because most of the house is over an unheated crawl space. The solution was to run a completely new water line inside the house from the front all the way to the rear along the baseboard on the second floor. I bought a coil of this Sharkbite tubing for that early in the project. This 1/2" tubing was to connect the end of that coil, and the water heater I installed in the second floor utility room, down to the kitchen. Once that project was complete, I turned the old kitchen into a laundry room, so more of this 1/2" Sharkbite was needed for that, plus some re-plumbing in the basement: the old-timers who plumbed this house sixty years ago surely loved to sweat little pieces of copper! The Sharkbite is perfect for simple residential installation. The fittings themselves are pretty expensive, but the time saved in putting plumbing together and the simplicty of being a plumber using SharkBite tubing cannot be exaggerated.
