Buy Venus in the Blind Spot (Junji Ito) Illustrated by Ito, Junji (ISBN: 9781974715473) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A true master of horror. - This arrived early and in perfect condition. Another great collection by Junji Ito. Nice to have some colour in this volume. Just one word of warning it does contain a little repeated material from Gyo. But don't let that put you off. The rest of the stories do nor appear in any of the other volumes. And there is plenty of great reading. Review: Junji Ito does it again with this new book! - An absolutely fantastic read from the king himself, Junji Ito. this beautiful hardcover book begins with a showstopping cover, inside, outside, and under the dust cover also. my eyes were treated to wonderful colour pages of his artwork, and so many memorable new stories. the "licking woman" impacted me the most, the ending was way off what i was expecting and gave me quite a spook when it happened! the human chair was incredibly eerie, made me shudder of the thought that it could possibly be real and left me haunted and confused. it was strange to see that he chose to add the story "the enigma of amigara fault" to this compilation of stories since it is a feature at the end of "Gyo" a very well known 2in1 hardcover edition but he added colour panels to the story which was a nice surprise and made it less of a chore to re-read again. talking of colour pages, there are quite a few in this book which is nice, and i believe makes up for the high purchase price. one story at the end is in full colour which was nice to see. all in all, this book is definitely worth buying and im glad i bought it. 10/10.

Unveiling the Depths of Horror
Junji Ito's manga story collection - Venus in the Blind Spot, delves deep into the unsettling realms of horror, offering a chilling exploration of the human psyche and society's dark corners. Through a series of meticulously crafted short stories, Ito masterfully weaves together themes of existential dread, psychological turmoil, and societal absurdity. One of the standout features of Ito's work is his ability to blur the lines between the grotesque and the mundane, creating a sense of unease that lingers long after the final page is turned. In stories like The Human Chair, which pays homage to Edogawa Rampo's classic tale, Ito crafts narratives that challenge our perceptions of reality and confront us with the unsettling truths hidden beneath the surface of everyday life. Moreover, this book serves as a poignant commentary on the human condition, using horror as a lens through which to examine the complexities of existence. From the grotesque transformations of The Licking Woman to the existential dread of Venus in the Blind Spot itself, Ito's stories resonate with a profound sense of unease, inviting readers to confront their own fears and anxieties.

A great addition to the published collections
Another Junji Ito collection and a pretty strong one at that. A few of the stories are in colour, or have the odd coloured panels, but it is still overwhelmingly a black and white manga. A couple of the stories have been published before (Amigara and Principal Post) in other collected volumes so bear that in mind if you have others. Still, they're shorter stories in a collection containing stories that are a bit longer than usual. I enjoyed it and definitely feel it's one of the better collections of Ito's work.

Highly recommended story collection
These stories are one of the best I've read in a long time. In my opinion the best stories out of the collection are The Human Chair and The Enigma Of Akibara Fault. Defiantly would recommend to anyone who is looking for horror and creepy stories to make you question.

Venus in the Blind Spot is a fantastic collection showcasing some of Junji Ito's best short stories. This anthology mixes classic horror with surreal, unsettling tales, offering a great variety of his signature creepy art and disturbing plots. The hardcover edition is beautifully crafted, with full-color pages and striking cover art, making it a must-have for Ito fans. While some stories are stronger than others, the collection as a whole is a great introduction to his work and a treat for longtime fans. If you love horror manga, this is a standout addition to your bookshelf.

I rarely write reviews, but I'm at a loss for words!, this book is STUNNING!, i was a bit disappointed when i noted that the cover was this kind of paper wrapping the book (high quality and like silicone to the touch) but when i removed it, oh man oh man! not only this paper cover is reversible and it has a different design, but also the hardcover is imprinted with a beautiful design, feels absolutely premium, the colored parts of the book were great and the addition to a couple of fully colored characters from other Junji Ito's works were a nice surprise, i would recommend this book to you even if you never read it and only display it! (it would be a crime, since the stories inside are fun and beautifully drawn, but who am I to judge?). If you like his work, buy it, if you like to display your books, buy it, if you like, body/cosmic horror in general buy it.

Thought this was a full novel, but it was a compilation of short stories. All worth it and would buy again even if I knew this was a compilation of short stories. Loved every bit of the stories and probably buy everything that comes from Junji Ito
