Safeman® Cable Lock, ski Lock, Snowboard Lock - Multifunctional Lock with Key

Easy to use and purpose built for securing skis. I have no doubt that this is one of the best options on the market for what it does. It is lightweight, easy to store, and sturdy. The cable is thick enough to instill confidence, and it is a reasonable thickness for a ski lock. Prior to finding this, I have used the Dakine micro lock and found the Dakine lock to be clumsy and flimsy. This is a much better product.However, it does have flaws. There are other reviews of people having issues with the locking mechanism on their lock. I decided to buy one anyway. It comes with 2 keys. My first one snapped while turning the lock after a couple uses. I continued using the second key with no issues, but it was always in the back of my mind that it might snap too and I wouldn't have a backup.Amazon was gracious enough to offer me a refund, and I will most likely re-purchase this lock so I can have a lock with 2 keys again. This is how much I believe that this is one of the best options available for ski locks.If a key snapped again, I would reconsider.

I like the compact and relatively light design which makes it convenient to put in my pocket when skiing. But I read some of the other reviews and agree that the reel mechanism is not smooth and at times difficult when pulling out the cord. I can understand how it may seize up over time. But the reel mechanism seemed to be smooth and easy when rewinding the cord to store away. The cord is just long enough that I was able to secure two pairs of skis placed in immediately adjacent outdoors ski rack positions at the resort. But I did not use it to secure our two pairs ski poles with it at the resort outdoors ski rack. In hindsight, I'll probably purchase another lock for our other skis and just have each person in the family carry their own locks. If you want to lock up/secure multiple skis, my opinion is to get multiple, individual locks so that you have some flexibility and don't have to worry about finding immediate side-by-side ski rack positions in order to secure two pairs of skis.The coated steel cord and rugged, hard plastic housing is sufficient to be a deterrent at the ski resort when locking up skis & poles on the outdoors rack during food or bathroom breaks. But I wouldn't recommend this lock if you are looking for a lock to use as a primary lock to secure something overnight, for an extended time in an isolated place, and/or a crime-prone area. If you are looking for a lock to use in that type of situation, look for another heftier lock type. Overall, I like this lock for use on ski trips. But, I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 stars because it is pricier compared to other locks and the difficulty with the reel mechanism at times when pulling out the cord. I like the overall concept but the design of the reel mechanism can be further improved.

The product is as advertised - a well-built, compact locking device. The 'stretch and grab' design is very clever and versatile. Two observations that bump it down a star: firstly, it is a bit of a pain to pull out the cable. It is stiff and time consuming. This may improve with use. The second 'failing' is that the cable itself is quite short. Yes, it can be used to secure a helmet and even a jacket (if you really cram it). Do what I didn't: read the specs and take out a tape measure and visualize just how short that length is. If it meets your needs, great; if not, look elsewhere.

I really like this lock. Works very well once you get the hang of it. (Tip: when you want to extend the cable, only hold the color side of the lock, not the black side) The lock is very small, light weight and the cable is heftier than I expected. It fits comfortably into a standard accessory pouch beneath your bike seat and is sturdy enough to secure your bike while you run in to the convenience store to buy a sports drink or enjoy a cup of coffee near by. This is not "overnight security" for your bike! Any reasonable pair of cutters would make it's way through the cable. But it is an excellent deterrent for an unprepared, opportunistic thief looking to snatch your bike as he walks by.

Solid cable lock, not impermeable but will definitely detour opportunistic thieves. The reel is not well designed, the plastic broke the first season but the cable still locks just fine.

This thing's awesome! I secure one key in my jacket and keep the other in the car (just in case). Works great and looks much stronger than all the locks next to it on the rack. Should definitely make a potential thief move on to the skinny wire lock next to yours. Used it about 20 times this season and it's been covered in snow many times. Did not affect the function one bit. If you put the boards with the heel cups of the bindings facing each other on a rack, you can get 2 boards locked up pretty easily, and I have gotten 3 when positioning them just right, but just could not get 4 boards locked up at once. It's just not long enough. If you always lock up 4 or more boards (or skis) I'd definitely recommend getting 2 of these instead of going a cheaper route. You won't be sorry!

Much sturdier and stronger than your typical ski lock. And not bigger either. Very well designed. Highly recommended as a ski lock where deterrence is the main goal. Wouldn’t be easy to clip with small wire cutters like most ski locks. Wouldn’t stand a chance against the large ones but that isn’t much of a concern on the mountain as it’s easy to spot someone using one of those.

Use these to secure snowboards by locking to racks through bindings. Gives a nice peace of mind that someone wont snag it while I'm taking a break and saves me from renting an expensive locker. Have occasional issue with getting lock to engage and needs a bit of jiggling but otherwise an awesome product. Will use this for bikes later this spring/summer

Lightweight lock which is useful on bike, if not needing to leave bike in riskier locations. Great if grabbing a coffee on the go and need a simple deterrant or pit-stop when out and about. ( eg I don't need a heavy lock if I can see my bike outside a building!)

Been wanting a decent ski lock for ages and this is the best one I've ever owned. Really well made and very secure. Easy to carry around and the double loop makes securing stuff together really easy.

Used for 3 months: Dec-Feb. Works really well until the key broke off in the lock. I’ll be in touch with customer service. Let’s see how good they are! I’ll report back.

To be honest very disappointed in this, the principle works well and is a handy size, but on second use the key snapped off in the lock. Big failure and very disappointed.

Can't fault this bike lock. Strong enough for a cafe stop or to pop to the shop, small enough to slip in your pocket....5*
