No, a gift card can only be used to purchase new merchandise.

Q: How is this card activated? When I put the gift card number in on the Kohls website it doesn't recognize the number

I would think it was activated when it was shipped out. Look on the back and see if they have a number you can call for kohl’s. I have never had a problem with gift cards I’ve bought on Amazon. If you call kohl’s, maybe they can talk you through the issue. If not call Amazon and give them the order id # that was mailed with your card.
