Works well with double pedal. See picture.
Great kick tower for the price. Replace your cheap one that came with your cheap set with this and you’ll be glad you did. Playability is better. Stability is better. I was having trouble playing with my Tama Speed Cobra on the tower that came with my kit. This Yamaha tower was exactly the upgrade I needed. Works great with my double pedal. See picture.

Works great with my Iron Cobra double pedal
I bought this to I could practice on my electric kit in my garage without having to travel all the way to the studio. I use with my Iron Cobra (old style) double bass pedal (I also use the Trick Drums Dominator double pedal, but it does not fit well on the base of the KP65 - this is a design flaw of the pedal though and not the KP65). While it does indeed work, I do have to watch it since it moves around a good bit and my pedal can actually move away from where it's clamped down. I probably have to recenter it once every other week or so. Nevertheless, that's the pedal's fault and not the kick tower. I like the separate volume control on the back of this unit.***Update 8/23/2016 - Unfortunately the KP65 that I had purchased began to crap out on me. It seemed like it was just hit or miss whether or not the trigger transmitted when it was hit...no matter what I tried. I contacted Yamaha customer service and spoke to someone (an American in California) who created a ticket with my info and told me someone would contact me for further instructions. Later I did receive a call but I was not able to take the call and a voice mail was left requesting a call back. I was not able to return the call until the next day. I called them back and they ran through the troubleshooting steps with me, which I had done everything except one thing already. They said to try that one thing (put the kick pad on a separate input to rule the inputs out on the brain) and then give them a call back/or email and they'd process a replacement right away. Unfortunately the tests showed that my unit was bad, but Yamaha shipped me one out and it arrived in perfect condition and is working flawlessly at this time. Yamaha's excellent customer service and warranty policy (1 year) has allowed me to retain this 5 star review in tact. Great job Yamaha! Other manufacturers should take note of your warranty policy and follow it as an example.

I wanted a trigger pad to develop my double bass drum pedal technique.
The trigger pad is very solid. I am using a DW3000 double bass drum pedal setup on a solid floor and it works great. very happy with for the price point.

Good Value
Good price. Using with Roland TD17kvx. Works great. Fairly loud. I like the fact it has volume settings you can alter on the device itself instead of navigating module menu.

Perfect for Nitro Kit
I got this to replace a worn out kick pad for Alesis nitro kit, it works flawlessly, I also purchased a double bass pedal and have no issues triggering, I recommend this to anyone needing a replacement in this price range, I couldn’t be happier. It shipped next day after ordering and arrived quick, packaged well if you’re looking for a pad instead of more expensive mesh head type kick do it, it rocks

Yamaha KP65 Kick Drum Tower is THE ONE!
I'm using the Alesis Forge electric drums (but not the electric cymbals - I still use real cymbals), and while I like the drums a great deal, I found myself disappointed with the kick drum pad, specifically in use with my DW3000 double-bass drum pedal. Even on max sensitivity, it wouldn't register all strokes with both beaters. After doing some research, I found this Yamaha KP65, which is also about $20 less expensive than the Alesis kick tower. The Yamaha kick tower is AWESOME! Works perfect for double bass pedals. Extremely fast response, strong signal. Very sturdy. Set up took about 30 seconds to remove the DW3000 rim clamp, swap the towers and reconnect the 1/4 inch cable. One of the big differences between the two towers is that the Yamaha's strike surface spreads across the entire face, all of which is sensitive. The Alesis tower has a thick metal border around the pad, which on my double-bass pedal, put the beaters too close to the edge and way from the center of the pad. Thumbs up to the Yamaha, best bang for the buck.

Stable and wide enough for double pedal hammers
I needed a second trigger to take to rehearsals so I didn’t have to haul my bass drum. This trigger functions well with both of my electronic brains and is wide enough to fit double pedal hammers from various pedals.
