HemlineFabric Marker: Wipe Off/Wash Out

Perfect temporary marker for all kinds of crafts and projects
This is a goofy little item to love but I've been using these pens for over 3 decades and I have to have them. In my sewing shop we used to call them spit pens (because you can erase the line with a spit dampened finger). Classier folk probably use water. Unlike the pens that make marks that fade after a time these marks don't go away until you dampen then and then they always go right away. This means you can leave a project unfinished without losing your markings. I have used them in innumerable craft projects of many types and they are a must-have.

The top stays on the back while using unlike others!
Amazing! First of these type of pens where the top stays on the back while using unlike others! All the others are such a pain to use because the top falls off, gets lost or have to put top in my mouth which is not healthy! Works very well and makes projects so much faster and easier clean up.

'A Gem for the Sewing Basket'
I have bought three of these wipe off pens for my dressmaking and cannot rate this particular brand highly enough. I have used many different products to transfer markings from pattern to fabric including transfer paper and a serrated roller but I always go back to relying on these little gems. They are easily wiped off with a cloth dipped in cold water, the marks just dissolve away. The only thing I have found is that on certain fabrics such as lining fabric and occasionally linen the ink will bleed a little so I use sparingly, otherwise they are excellent. I have on odd occasions accidently run a hot iron over them but this hasn't set the mark and once noticed I wet it again with cold water and it still came off. The pens have a long shelf life unlike some others I have tried in different colours which are not as reliable and dry up fairly quickly.Wouldn't be without one in my basket!

Mark comes back when ironed
The pen does come off fabric when it is dabbed. The issue I have is the blue line comes back when it is ironed. This was not very clever when I marked up a panel of patchwork to make a quilt. I guess that every time I wash or iron it in future I will have to spend unnecessary time dabbing the fabric to get the blue pen line out.

Faint lines still visable. Avoid.
I used this to grid fabric for a cross-stitch project. I tested it and it came off fine, but faint lines remain in the finished product, even after careful washing and a few usually useful stain removal tricks. Very disappointed as this is meant to be a gift.

Not easy to remove
I used this pen on some yellow felt so I could mark my design, I had to completely soak my felt to remove the markings a few times which was irritating as it ruined my work In the end.
