You may be able to do it with a soldering gun but it is very difficult. If you wish to protect the ends I use West Marine Whip It which is like an electrical plastic which you can brush on or I use heat shrink tubing and a hot blower. The strength of this material is many times that of 550 or 750. The material is not covered as is the strenth portion of parachute cord which as the nylon cover. Being Kevlar is is resistant to abrasion but without the covering it is immediately in contact. I hope this helps you understand the pros and cons.
