20V MAX* Dust Extractor, Brushless, Universal, Tool Only (DWH161B)

This has been a great purchase. I’m a small independent cabinet maker and I use this for sanding and often for stone anchors and it works perfectly. Great to bring on site in someone’s home, small and very portable for sometimes you just don’t need the festool. THIS IS NOT a SHOP VAC, it’s a dust extractor, there is a difference. I use a 6 amp hour battery on it and it lasts plenty long for what I use it for. I only wish the hose was detachable, it is fixed and so you can’t add a longer hose other then that I have zero complaints.

If you can get this at a decent price, it is a stupidly useful convenience. I have not been able to get ahold of the attachment for my sds, so I cant speak to it's true intended use, but this is so nice to have when sanding a wall. You never have to worry about the hose getting in the way. Its also super useful if you're ripping a long piece of wood with a circular saw. Im sure I will find other uses too. Dewalt is a little stingy in not including the dwv9000 adaptor, but they are $10 so I can't complain too much. I love the quick connect system for the hose, I actually like it better than the centec connectors. Every one of my Dewalt tools fits. If you're already in the Dewalt battery system, this thing is a really nice addition.

DeWalt dropped the ball. This could have been a great addition to my dust collection items. I think a dust buster has more suction. I bought this to use with the DeWalt 20v cut off saw. Mainly to cut out tile around toilet flanges to make plumbing repairs. The vacuum does not even come close to having enough power. I have the vacuum that attaches to SDS drills and it works fantastic. I have a HEPA DeWalt shop vacuum for the jackhammer and it works great. I just wanted something smaller to keep on the truck but ended up wasting money on this vacuum.

First things first, this thing works like they say it does. Throw a battery on it, press the button, and it proceeds to suckin. The suction seemed a little light so I 3D printed an adapter to fit the hose to an air speed meter and the results calculate out to 23 CFM vs the 19 CFM listed in the manual. So, it sucks more than they say it does, but it still feels a little light on the suction. No points subtracted for doing what it promised. Sound levels measured at 1m read at 79dB(A) vs 82.5 in the manual. This certainly isn't quiet but it's quieter than the tools I'm running with it so I'm wearing hearing protection anyway. Another good showing for performing better than the spec in the manual. The hose fitting provided is a 32mm OD hose with no provision for use with the "AirLock"-style connector found on nearly all new DeWalt tools. As others have noted, despite a wide range of vacuum hose fittings available from DeWalt, none of them appear to be suitable for making this dust collector work with the majority of the DeWalt tool range. In response to this, I went and designed a 3D printed adapter for this hose to lock onto AirLock connectors which is demonstrated in the attached video. If you have a 3D printer you can download that and print yourself up a free solution that makes this collector finally suitable for use with most DeWalt tools.

Great product, great price. Lightweight, compact, and powerful. I would recommend this to anyone who has to eliminate dust while working.

Had to order quick connector adapter. The adapter was too big for vac hose. So i used an old shop vac attachment cut extra part off. Fit snugg in adatoer then hose fits snug in cut peice.

Nice little extractor. But don't expect it to connect to any tools. I bought it to use with my dewalt cordless sander. But after buying two different adapters it still doesn't connect. I tried dewalt support but they aren't responding. So basically I have a cute little vacuum that really isn't good for anything. Maybe dewalt will respond and let me know what adapter I need but until then I'm very disappointed.

I am using it with Dewalt ATOMIC circular saw DCS571B. There is no adapter but the saw does come with a fitting that is easily taped to this vacuum. When cutting stucco there is very little dust around my face.

This dust extractor is essentially useless. The suction is insufficient for the filter so even fine dust in suspension challenges it. It isn't designed for sanders. The hose is incompatible with nearly everything, possibly by design. The suction through the filter is so poor that it amazes me that any reviewers managed to collect anything at all.

Compact and lightweight, great when used with a hammer drill.

Ok but not a powerful vacuum. Does that it was made for anyway
