Terrific camera - small package with powerful features
Bought this camera to replace an older, and larger, digital. The picture quality is great. The size is smaller then expected. The auto focus and face recognition feature is terrific in party of family gathering situations. The added feature of 5x optical zoom in this little camera takes the camera over the top.One caution: When using red eye reduction in auto mode with Face detection you need to be sure the faces were detected. If the faces are detected, green square around face, then red eye reduction is automatic and no strobe flash is required. However if taking quicker shots and not allowing face detection to recognize a face you get a lot of red eye since there is no strobe and regular red eye reduction mode with strobe should be used.

Sony Cybershot DSC-200 - Terrible Camera - Photos Dark and Grainy
This camera is simply the worst camera i have ever bought. I own a Nikon S51C and a Canon 870IS. This camera does not even come close to either of those two. I have taken hundreds of pictures with each and the Sony DSC-T200 I thought was defective but it was just the quality you get from a Sony I guess. I think the Nikon S51C is the best photo camera on the market. It takes awesome indoor photos in low light and superior outdoor. The Sony is you take an indoor picture you will see darkness all around the photo except for the object you are focused in on and that is fairly dark and grainy as well. My advise is simply dont buy it. It is a very sharp looking camera I love that about it. I will admit its the best looking one of the three in my opinion but the purpose is to take pictures and this camera doesnt do that any better than 10 year old digitals with more megapixels. Hope this helps!

retured!
I'm a sony fan, especially when it comes to their camaras. I bought this model T200 for my mom for Christmas...and after a few days I returned it. Outdoor pictures are ok, however indoor pictures were mostly blurry or grany, no matter what setting I tried I got the same results. We had the DSC-W80 and that one work perfectly..So don't get caught up for this fancy touch screen system, you won't get fancy results either. Instead get any Compact Point and Shot and you'll will get far more for your money...especially quality!

5* in 2007, still an elegant 3-4* in 2011 on MANUAL MODE
Purchased this in Dec 2007 prior to a trip to the Mediterranean when it was a top of the heap new release boasting HD video playback capabilities, video zooming and 8mp resolution. In a way this was wasted on me back then, when I hadn't bothered to read the manual leaving the camera to its own devices, relying rather on its auto sensors. As a result of which (fault mine) I had missed out on a gamut of features which are really rather good even impressive by todayish's standards. On auto mode, I had found the sensors to be a tad slow during the trip and had kept missing shots due to significant fire up time, something I had found rather annoying (but I couldn't possibly have expected DSLR performance). Images were sony quality. Now 4 yrs on, I have dusted it off the shelf and am hvg a relook at it with a quick compare with mum's new Ixus 220 hs and found that apart from 1) today's wide angle offerings from 24mm/28mm (vs 35mm) and 2) amazing white balance sensor advancements (Ixus 220 hs has clearly superior low light capture on AUTO), the baby stacks up REALLY WELL ON MANUAL Mode and video ZOOMS smoothly albeit on lower res! ISO ranges up to 3200 with impressive performance between ISO 400-800 for low-light capture till even 1600. Boasts of a histogram which is useful for the sophisticated (those in the know).. time to google ref "histogram"...The touchscreen menu is quite intuitive & easy to use once you get the hang of it.All up, I hv surprised myself 2nd time round and am pretty happy with it even sans the white balance superiority and low-light capture of auto-mode compacts today. Still tossing whether to get the canon s95/s100 or lx5 or the nex-5N...or the EOS60D it never ends. Might as well stay with this till I'm ready.

Wonderful
Great camera. Easy for first timer's. Takes great shots in low light situations without flash. easy to navigate but wish it had a quick jump back to review the last picture taken (or maybe I have not found it yet). Great screen and easy to download pictures.

Satisfied
I am so glad I decided to buy this camera. It is so easy to operate and the large 3.5" LCD widescreen is a pleasure. The quality an resolution of the pictures is excellent. I am delighted with this my fourth digital camera and the price is worth for every pixel.

performs as advertised.
I've used other DSC cameras before but the touch screen function and intuitive menu options make this camera a great buy. The pictures are great and the other features, like shutter delay, perform as advertised.

Bad Picture Quality for this Price
I am not a photo guru, just a simple point and click guy with a family that needs a nice small camera that is easy to slip in a pocket to take good pictures and videos with little need to read a manual or make adjustments. Previousily I had a Casio 7 megapixal camera for three years which took good clear photos. So the t200 looked great, tiny, stylish and good features. I tested it the day we got it, took pictures indoors and right away they were noticably worse not a little but much worse. Very grainy, blury not sharp at all. I tried several different ways to improve the quality but the pictures almost always came out very soft. The odd picture was clear the rest were soft.Took pictures outdoors, the same, most were soft not sharp pictures.I was disappointed so I returned the camera two days latter. Got the much cheaper and still small with nice style Canon SD 750 and right away it takes good sharp pictures indoors and outdoors as I would expect with a new point and click camera.
