Excellent value, very good product.
I paid $8 total for a Yoshi knife and peeler. Everyone that cooks in our kitchen has been impressed with it. The sharpness is comparable to a $100 Japanese knife I chose after researching best recommendations from professional chefs. The plastic handle feels substantial enough, but still cheap. I have had no problems with breakage or dulling after a month of use on a wood cutting board. The absolutely straight edge creates a little awkwardness for me at the end of each downward stroke, since there is a bolster that prevents complete contact with the cutting board and I'm more accustomed to a knife with a very slight curve, but the adjustment in hand motion is easily accomplished. For the money, this is an exceptional value. It won't impress any friends, but if that's your goal, you probably aren't shopping for a Yoshi knife anyway. Update: after several months of use, there are tiny chips at the very tip of the blade. They don't impact the knife's ability to slice through anything like butter. I also understand why the bolster extends past the blade - it prevents the entire blade from touching the cutting board and getting twisted from any kind of sideways hand movement, which puts extreme stress on the blade and promotes breakage.

Dull, Boring, and Dull
It is true in life that you get what you pay for. This is the second ceramic knife I have tried to pay as little as possible for in my life, and now it is time to get a real ceramic knife, ie. Kyocera (? spelling). This makes a great butter knife but is not suitable for any real work. It does look very nice and is comfortable in your hand, but so is a glove! The seller was excellent though and I would recommend that person. Othewise, save this knife for cutting up some very serious soft butter!

pretty good knife
I hate to say this but the first Yoshi blade I had was great! Infact it still is. It's very discolored and you can see imperfections in the blade with the naked eye but it still cuts through vegetable skin better than this new one I just ordered. it can't get it's teeth in the egg plant or tomatoe skin like the old one. I still like the way these knives feel in the hand. It is very sharp but some things it cuts very well and others it doesn't. The first one I had was an all purpose knife. I don't know why it would be different. I still recommend these knives and they're great for the price but it will not be my main knife any more.

BEST THING AS SEEN ON TV HAS MADE!!
I am not sure where all of these other people are from, but the reviews that are negative are MISLEADING!!! This Yoshi Blade Ceramic Knife Set is the best gift anyone has ever given me! My husband & I received it as a wedding gift. When I received it, I thought, wow a $19 knife?! Well, let me tell you, this knife is worth every penny!! I would pay $49.95 for it! I have had it for 2 years and it hasn't dulled any. It is just as sharp as it was the first time I used it!! It is dishwasher safe and never rusts! The peeler is amazing too! I have only used it on potatoes (I am sure it works just as well with other foods) and it is so fast and removes just the peeling. It doesn't remove extra potato and isnt sharp to the touch, so you won't have to worry about chopping your hand off. I absolutely love this product!!! I never use the other knives in the house now. Well worth the money and would make a great gift for anyone!! 5 STARS FOR YOSHI BLADE!!! -TN Yoshi BladeTM

This is a knock off.
This is a knock off. I have a real Yoshi knife that was purchased from Wal-mart and it's awesome. Unfortunately, the tips of these knives break off really easily. I don't even care though because the blade cuts so much better on things like fruits and vegetables than any other knife I have. However, my second knife (which is the one I bought here off Amazon) did not cut nearly as well right out of the package as my original store bought one that is several years old. There are small but noticeable difference in the two knives that I realized after I compared the two side-by-side. I highly recommend the Yoshi knife, just don't buy it from this seller on Amazon, get it from a local store.

Something went wrong at the factory...
The 3 stars are for this particular YoshiBlade set, not the seller. I have purchased this identical product in the past... exactly the same packaging and items. However, the first knife and peeler were extremely sharp and wonderful to use. The knife fit perfectly into the protective holder. I have had them for several years and they are still very sharp, but just starting to look worn. I decided to order the same set online. The original set was bought at a WalMart store near my home, but they no longer carry the product. Evidently, the one I received from Amazon.com (my luck) had some problems. Knife is not as sharp, and it could not even be forced into the holder at all. Peeler not sharp and would barely peel a potato and only with a lot of pressure applied. I was really disappointed, because I know from experience that this should be a fabulous knife and peeler set. This is not the sellers fault - they did their job well and I would give them 5 stars. Order was sent quickly, with no problems in shipping. Unfortunately, it just seems to be a defective product. I will contact the seller and ask if they will replace it. YoshiBlade knives are FAB. At least my first one was! Still gonna try to find another one, as it has been my favorite knife ever.
