Review: Love Vasque Shoes!!! - Vasque shoes are my absolute favorite. They are rugged, fit great, and have superior quality. The Juxt's did not disappoint. I got 2 pairs. A friend turned me onto Vasque shoes years ago. I've had many pairs over the years. I had to switch from med. width to wide width as i got older, and my feet spread out with age. The wide width is as perfectly fitting as the mediums were back then. Super comfortable, rugged, and great looking. I currently have about 7 pairs of Vasque's. Some with waterproofing, and some without. The Juxt's are the newest addition to the crew. I got them as soon as i could find them in wide. The stupid supply chain issues made finding wide in Vasque's hard. You will not be sorry for choosing any Vasque shoe. I have extreme foot pain from many years of working on old concrete hangar floors. So consequently, I have trouble finding shoes that are comfortable. Vasque shoes are them. I also have found shoes from Rock Rooster to be great for work. I've tried dozens of high end shoes over the years. These 2 brands are my go to's. I also liked a model from Danner, but they discontinued them. So Rock Rooster for work, and Vasque for everything else. I use a high end firm supporting insole from Sole in my Rock Rooster's for work. Keeps my foot stable when carrying a heavy tool bag and A/C parts. The Vasque's, i like the insole that comes with them. Hope this helps. Review: I just tend to look like one. - I've read somewhere that these were the shoes a Seal Team 6 member used during the Osama Bin Laden raid. I don't know if that is true or not. I'm not a Seal, I just tend to look like one... the animal, not the highly trained elite soldier. I took these out on a 5 mile hike/trail run. In my area we had a day of thunderstorms couple days prior, so most of the trails were still wet and muddy and slippery. Most of the small streams that I was able to get by without getting my feet wet were now overflowing with water. I knew if I went through with this, it would be close to impossible to return these if I didn't like them for some reason. However, at the comfort of my home, when I was walking around in these, they were very comfortable. Love the feel, fit, and look of the shoes. So I crossed these flooded streams, completely submersing these shoes in water. They drain well and were quick to dry. I aired them out and wore them the next day hanging out with friends. During my hike, these shoes have great traction and protection. I didn't feel any rocks or roots, and my foot felt comfy and protected the entire time. Well as comfy as drenched shoes and socks can be. I didn't use them on slippery rock, so can't say if they're good for that or not. Here's the thing that really surprised me. These shoes are surprisingly silent walking indoors. I have Merrell Moabs, and various trail running/hiking shoes, and all of them make either a rubbing rubber type of noise indoors on tile, or a thud like noise. These shoes are silent. These are my first pair of Vasques, and I am very happy.

These shoes lasted me a year, which is pretty impressive, because I don't usually own more than one pair of shoes at a time so these were worn 365 days pretty much. Typically at the one year mark even the most expensive hiking shoes are fairly worn out, and I must say that probably only some $200+ pairs of Lowas I have owned held up as well. It may seem silly, but one thing that impressed me about their durability was that the laces lasted the entire year as well. Don't know if it is my feet or what, but the last 4 or 5 pairs of shoes I've owned the laces broke after about 9 months, even some very expensive brands. These laces were not even frayed a bit. Another thing I liked about them was they were comfortable from day one, although they did not give as much support, stability, or padding as more expensive shoes I've owned. I was not super-impressed with their wet traction. Seemed like they were a bit slippery when I was walking in somewhere out of the rain, but on another note, even though they are not waterproof, they actually kept my feet dry when tromping through dewy grass and stepping in the occasional shallow puddle. I can recall one time my feet actually felt wet at all in these shoes. I'm wanting something with a little more padding and stability so I will probably not buy them again, but all-in-all these were a great value for the price. Top notch shoes that I am proud to have live a year plus with and give 5 stars to.

Arrived on Sunday for trip on Monday
I tried these on once, after they arrived at my door, a couple of hours before I laced up for a two day trip of ~10 miles of backpacking (rope, rack, and water), class 4 scrambling and 5+ hours of chest deep manzanita. I look for three things in hiking boots; a price for use over two years, durability of the upper in materials and construction, and a high quality outsole. These fit the budget, I thought the toe cap was interesting and could add to the robustness of the upper, and I liked the marketing of "approach shoe" because I knew I wouldn't want to swap out for rock shoes during this wet trip, for obvious reasons. I prefer a Vibram outsole and usually buy a competitor brand for this reason. This outsole provided plenty of grip, despite the deep aggressive lugs, on both smooth granite and wet talus. In my experience, there is always a compromise with the sole, between grip on smooth surfaces and durability/service life. This material seems a bit hard, so will probably last quite a while. Breaking in the sole will probably increase grip on smooth surfaces. It rained both days and the shoes were wet for ~36 straight hours and on my feet for 26 of those hours.. We spent a little more than 12 hours the first day, moving from valley floor, to rockfall/scree, to class 4 scramble, then stomping through manzanita, all during steady rain, and I never had a hot spot, sore arch, heel slip, or even loose shoelace. The first night, the shoes didn't have a chance to dry out before I put them back on at sunrise to make another shorter run of the same type and conditions. No problems with these shoes then, either. I'm looking forward to breaking these shoes in for greater flexibility and "molded" fit, and I can't complain about anything yet. I searched Amazon for "men's approach shoe", narrowed the price to what I wanted to pay, checked for highest average review and found these. I'd owned Vasque brand before, but over 14 years ago, and those shoes were, honestly, garbage in short time. I hope these treat me well.

Love these shoes!
They fit really nicely and are super comfortable I can’t say that about most of the shoes I’ve purchased in the past ten years. Vasque shoes are really well made and they hold up really well over time. I’m thrilled with these shoes and probably will only be buying Vasque Hiking shoes in the future. They also look great and are really easy to put on and take off .

Very good approach shoe for wide feet.
I am very happy with these so far. Writing a review before taking these out on a climb or hike, but just commenting on the feel and fit. I purchased these mostly to use for hiking and as approach shoes for bouldering and climbing. There are VERY FEW shoes made specifically as approach/climbing shoes that I could find that come in wide sizes, maybe there are none. If anybody knows of others, comments are appreciated. I have 11.5 2E feet, some times I need 4E if the brand runs narrow. I cannot even get most M or D width shoes on. I have super flat and wide feet, they are very elephant like. As such, I'm very excited that the Juxt fit my feet really well, and are very cushy and comfertable especially around the ankle area. Need a little breaking in, but after only a few days, I feel like I could take them hiking. The quality is very good at first glance, and they look better in person on my feet than the pictures show. The soles and tread are pretty intense and thick, but still have some feel. There is not great arch support, but I have inserts in them, which have no problem with them fitting. Can't wait to get these out on the rocks.

Military Approved
I cannot give you specifics, The amount of reviews says it all. If you get to mine, OK. I bought these in Afghanistan from Amazon. I used them on lite missions. Terrain like Rocks, on and off helicopters, in the dust, mud and the like. They lasted great. I also bought a pair of Solomons like the Rangers use at the same time, but low top, and they did not last the tour!! These shoes are very good. Only thing which is probably my fault is that when loose, I feel they wear a little bit easy at the heel top area. Otherwise, I have never worn such a comfortable shoe and would be my go to shoe for the future. They kindof fit like a wetsuit, close all over. It is a lowtop so do not expect allot of anke support. They are not too hot and have very good grip. If my Brothers and Sisters are looking for a rugged shoe if allowed, for the military. You will not be dissapointed with this shoe.

Okay not great. More trail runner than hiker.
Could it be that the Juxt is called a "multisport" shoe because it does several things okay, but nothing really well? Length: Relatively true-to-size, if a smidge long. I normally buy 9.5 when choosing a shoe that will be used for hiking to ensure there will be no toe bang. The size 9 Juxt is fine. Width: Sufficient room in the toebox. Definitely fits a more snugly through the forefoot than a typical "hiker"; might be more like an approach shoe. The heel pocket is not as narrow as the forefoot... might be more like the toebox. The extra lacing eyes and webbing allow for a very customized fit from toe to ankle. Heel pocket: For me, this is the most disappointing aspect of the shoe. Not sure if I can describe this in a way that will be comprehensible, but... the heel of the shoe, and the heel pocket, are shorter, top to bottom, than on a standard hiker. For me, this means that the heel doesn't feel as securely strapped in. And while the unique lacing arrangement holds the fore and mid foot securely, it does not lock the heel in place. On the first few wearings, there was noticeable heel lift. This has diminished somewhat as the shoes have broken in - perhaps because the sole has softened up and perhaps because the shoe is molding to my foot. But it remains true that the heel fit of the Juxt does not seem as... secure... as on the Lowa and Merrell hiking shoes I've owned. . Support: Torsional rigidity is okay, probably a result of the design of the sole. But the shoe is fairly soft. More a lightweight "trail runner" than a substantive "hiker". Can feel rocks through the sole - which is okay when scrambling, but can be painful / tiring on a long day of talus hopping. Sole: As above... a bit soft; doesn't appear to have much of a shank. Seems to grip well enough. Haven't had the shoe out in inclement weather so cannot comment on performance in wet or mud. Quality of materials / construction: No complaints (so far). Similar quality to my Vasque Snowblimes. If Lowas are BMWs, Vasque would be a Chevrolet. Solid materials and workmanship. Decent value at this price-point. One niggle: As another reviewer commented, the laces are constructed of a "slippery" material and have a propensity to loosen even when double knotted. Which can be annoying but is not really a "problem".
