Very addicting, but very tedious and a lot of work!`
This is my fist model I ever attempted. When I saw the picture of this beautiful house, I got really motivated, I thought to myself that would be a lot of fun to make. I was right, it is a lot of fun seeing grow into what it's supposed to be, but very hard work.l The tools that are included with the kit are not high quality at all. I had to buy all new, but the plans are awesome. They avery detailed and drawn to scale, just put the beam on the place, mark it, cut it and glue it. I have been on this project about 6 months now, ( I took about 3 months break) and now I am back on it. I pretty much completed half of the project. Right now I am finishing up the roof as the roof ans the walls are the longest, they have so much details and you have to cut each beam at the precise angel. That was the most annoying part. What I did was to make my job easier, I bout myself an angle finder and i bought a precision cutting tool, so once I have the angle, I just put it on the precision cutting tool and cut it. That saves a lot of time and aggravation. Overall I think it's a solid project and if you have patience, you will be very satisfied when it's completed.

A wonderful project for model enthusiasts.
I am still in the process of building this model. It is very complicated and requires each beam to be cut. Often the cuts need to be slightly sanded so that it is smooth. I love the fact that the instructions are so easy. Additional acetate sheets should be purchased as well as some fine sand paper or a nail file. I have also purchased a better tweezers as the ones that come with the project are fat and bulky. The cutter that comes with the project is good for angle cuts; however, I also purchased a precision cutting tool for the straight edges. You have to be careful with the cuts so as not to mash the beams as they are made of soft balsa wood. All-in-all, I am quite happy with this product and would recommend it to other model enthusiasts. Just remember, it will take you some time to complete the project.

Easy directions
Very easy directions. Only issue is that the acetate sheet that came with it is bent up in a couple of places and is making it hard to lay pieces down flat

Poor rough framing representation.
If you're looking for a scale model approaching reality you're better off looking someplace else. The plans for wall roughing should be vertical members 16" on center (to scale) rather than the mosh mash of angled pieces this model presents. Totally unrealistic. Your much better off cutting your own lumber strips to scale using a bandsaw.

Good Plans and consistent wood pieces.
This is what I expected from a quality kit. Feel free to take the safety strip off the cutter. (you won't cut your arm off).12-9-18 I actually ended up cutting most of the pieces right on the plan board using a razor knife, a real time saver. Don't worry about too much glue since it works it's way into the wood and will actually help structurally. The glue goes on white, but dries clear. I am about half way thru and enjoy the challenge!1-10-19 After completion, this has been a very satisfying project. Completed in 2 months, about 3 hrs. per day, or about 180 man hours. I am going to do a matchstick model of our own home from the plans! Good Success to you.

Fun to build
A lot of fun to put together but I wish that the walls were constructed differently, more like real construction.

LOT of work!!!
This kit will require a lot of time and patience, but it will be rewarding in the long run. I think that it might take me over 300 hours to finish. some other reviews state that the cutter does not work and to use a pair of small cutters. The cutters crimp the wood on the ends. More than one acetate sheet is going to be needed fo finish because the sheets can get bent up a little through handling. The glue is the standard white glue type. My only complaint is the clips that hold the paper to the backing board do not hold the sheets firmly enough. They can move around a little with handling. One other thing: ALL pieces have to be cut. Even the longest ones in the plans call for a small cut off to get to the final length. But enjoy if you have the time.
