This is a beautiful chess set, well worth the price. The marble striations are unique and captivating and the design overall is just absolutely gorgeous. The board and the pieces are heavy enough we can set it up and play on the bed. The box provided for storage is slightly chintzy, I would have preferred something other than velcro closures and the material it's made of is a bit flimsy - but it fits together well and the organization is carefully thought out. I can't complain since the set itself is so great...I don't know why, but finding a good, unique chess that's as solid as this one was a pain in the a** - I'm picky about chess and don't like anything with a hint of shoddy manufacture. Fortunately this set lives up to the photos. There's no felt on the bottom of the pieces but after playing the board shows not even a tiny sign of scratching. A great value and I highly recommend it.

We ordered this for my 7 year old who is really getting into chess. The really basic set we had was great for teaching her the basics of gameplay, but we thought a nicer looking board would keep her excited and be something she could be proud to bring out or keep on display in her room. She also loves rocks so this was a great combination for our needs. The set is very heavy and came packaged in a nice little box covered with a velvet like cloth material. We were impressed with the weight of the board and pieces which are easily identifiable and will not be confused during game play. We happened to get an open box item for half the regular price and I feel it was a great value at that price. At the regular price I may have had regrets on the size of the board and pieces but at the price we paid I was very happy.

Product came as advertised. The color contrast between the white and the green pieces was good (although i would have to assume that varies based on the batch of rocks the manufactures are working with). The set is a good weight and the set feels solid, both board and pieces. It is clear these are hand carved pieces and therefore have a fairly limited uniformity, especially with the more complex pieces to carve, like the knight. I was fine with a little variation in the pieces but I do have to say that one knight had a slightly uneven base making it sit slightly crooked on the board, and the other knight seemed to have a chipped ear.Overall though, I am happy with my purchase, as is my girlfriend (whom I purchased this for as a gift). I would recommend it to others so long as they are ok with it not having completely uniform pieces. I think the uniqueness of the pieces pairs well with the uniqueness of the rock it is carved out of and am excited for it to be not only an intellectually challenging game for my girlfriend and myself but also an artistic centerpiece in whatever room we decide to keep it in.

I gifted this set to my man. The first set was no marble really and didnt look anything like the pictures, so yes I was upset. I emailed the company and explained to them the situation, gave them the date and order number of when I purchased the set. They sent another set out in a matter of days. The shipping was faster than Amazon Prime these days honestly. The second set is very beautiful like the pictures. He loves this chess set. I really appreciate the company for making things right. I also love the quality of this set. To me it doesnt seem cheaply made.

This is an outstanding chess board! The overall quality of the board itself and the smoothness of the pieces makes it the highest quality of a chess set I have ever seen. Each piece of the chess set is unique and beautiful. Not to mention customer service has been beyond amazing. I had contacted them for a question about the set and I received a response within an hour! I wish I can give this product ten stars! This makes the perfect gift and the perfect addition to make your house look classy. I always want to play chess when I see this set because it really brings out the beauty of a classic game.

The colors of the pieces are not very different making it difficult to distinguish between green and white.I also am going to have to purchase felt feet to go on the bottom of the board so that it doesn’t scratch my table.It is very pretty and incredibly heavy. I wish it had a case so that it doesn’t have to stay out all the time.
