This brand of gel fuel is the absolute best in my opinion. Gives off a nice amount of heat and lasts quite a long time. I notice no smell whatsoever. Cans are very easy to open. I use a paint can opener and it works like a charm. This seller packages these so well! This is a great company. This is my all-time favorite fuel to use. I'll be ordering from this company many times in the future.

We use these for our indoor fireplace that was made for gel fuel. It gives off such a warm glow and does take the chill out of the air in our living room. If you use more than one it does put out some heat! It crackles like a real fire which is nice and it looks cozy. It burns down really well and there is a good quantity. It does have a little bit of alcohol smell when it is burning out but doesn’t last long. We’ve tried other brands but like the real flame brand the best.

Even though there IS a very slight odor when the flame starts to wind down (last 15 minutes) I am giving this product 5 STARS. Having been traumatized through 12 days with no heat last year as a result of Hurricane Sandy, this autumn we burn just one can every evening in our large living room and it adds warmth and a lot of good feeling. We had not used our woodburning fireplace in years because when it is cold out you have to open the flu and leave it open for a long time afterward and the whole house got cold. But with these delightful easy to use gel fuel cans we can have a warm, crackling, inviting fire every night. We look forward to it and it has definitely added to our quality of life. Nothing is perfect but this product comes very close to being so. As for the odor, we find that if we snuff out the can after 2 hours and ten minutes it helps a great deal to reduce it. It is very tolerable and the product is also well worth the cost. With just one can the evening is cozy and special! I have been purchasing gel fuel through this company for many years. I thoroughly enjoy going over to friends house where we use the gel cans in their fireplace. The crackling of a real fire is beautiful and very relaxing. I recently had to reach out to customer service both by phone and email and found this company to provide excellent service regarding my issue. I highly recommend this company's customer service and products.

The slight odor is probably unavoidable with any gel fuel, and of the ones we've tried Real Flame has the lowest odor, it's the most affordable, it seems to burn the cleanest and longest, and it has the most effective crackling sound. All around, we much prefer this brand. In our gel-fuel-specific fireplace, these give off a very good amount of heat - enough to take the chill out of a 12'x12' room when our furnace was down during a power outage in 20 degree F weather. Can't recommend the gel fuel fireplace enough to anyone who doesn't have a wood fireplace and wants the atmosphere they create. Not sure I would do it, though, if any household members have asthma or other breathing-related problems. The emission is very light, but not nonexistent.We strongly recommend remembering to shake the can and peel off the label. Real Flame actually makes it easier to peel the label than other brands we've used who glued the label all the way around the can. Real Flame just puts a couple of dots on the seam, but I agree with the reviewer who suggested they put the label on the lid - that would make it much more user-friendly. Even at its best, the label removal process is a pain.

Over the years I have used various types of gel fuel and pretty much abandoned using it because of the awful odor... no matter what they claimed.Real Flame gel fuel is fantastic! There is NO odor. We were particularly thrilled because we live in Asheville, NC and had to use it for cooking and there was NO noxious smell. It was perfect. Also, the fuel lasted for a long time. We cooked meal after meal and just recapped the can. It's barely down one third from opening! How great is that?! We highly recommend Real Flame!

I have been using this product for years & have been pleased. I have one of the early fireplaces they are used for. I have fireplace for maybe 25 years? My only disappointment is the increase of cost over the years. Product works well, I just use less because of cost.
