Plaid Simply Stencil (8 by 18-Inch) and (8 by 10-Inch), 28939 Cut Your Own (Set of 2)

I had never thought to make or use a stencil before. It makes art projects so much easier. However, this was difficult to use. I'm not sure if it's because of the exacto knife I chose, the quality of this stencil plastic, or my lack of experience, but I could not easily cut into the stencil in the design I wanted. The knife had trouble curving and it was very jagged.

I decided to do a project on my kitchen cabinets and to get stencils made would have cost me $300 so I went this route instead. I bought the heated stencil cutter to make things easier. It turned out pretty good but if you're one that likes perfection, I wouldn't advise making your own stencils. I even used stencil adhesive spray on these but it still came out a little wobbly looking from where it leaked under a bit. You can't really tell from the pics though. Thankfully rustic is what I was going for anyway. Most of the words were made using these stencils and making templates off the computer. A couple of parts are from just using regular alphabet stencils.

I don't have any complaints, except that maybe I should have been more careful in my order. This item was a little pricey for what you get. Considering others offer more than a single large piece of plastic and a very small one. I was actually looking for a package of sheets. It is my fault for not being more careful.

I am renovating my master bathroom and wanted to use my floor tile as an inspiration for wall designs. I'd made a few stencils with stuff I had around the house already but the only similar item I could find in stores near me was some crap from another company that shall remain nameless, but I can assure you it was not a good thing. The Plaid Simply Stencil is strong enough to make large stencils with very thin joins that will last for many uses and since it's clear you can just lay it over whatever you want to trace. Also, it's flat so you don't have to try and unroll it like the other stuff I'd tried. I would use this again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone who wants to make their own stencils. The only problem I had was with the packaging as it had been bent during shipping. It didn't cause a huge problem but it wasn't perfect.

Came with a big, I mean huge, dirty shipping label right on the stencil. Causing me to not be able to use a huge portion of the stencil. Absolutely ridiculous. I would not recommend buying this.

This is a little heavier than some other stencil sheets I've used, and I like that because it holds up better. I cut a fairly complicated pattern and it was easy to work with.

This worked absolutely perfectly for my wall stencil. I designed my own designed, traced it on the computer screen and then cut it out with a knife on a cutting board. It was perfect! I did a whole bathroom wall and a whole living room wall. Do not leave in the heat though or it will start to curl around your cuts. Plus side I just taped it down flat and laid a book on it and it went back flat. I will definitely purchase again for my next stencil project.

Works fine, I use this on my Silhouette to make my own stencils for art journals. But I finally found a cheaper pack at Hobby Lobby for $2.99. So, if you have one nearby, pls do check out first before buying this. It'll save you money.
