Can't beat a perfect fit.
It sure is easy to make your own ground cloth, but it probably won't be the perfect fit that the manufacturers floor saver is. Thin but very light and packs very small. I mean very small compared to a plastic sheet which I had been using. Only used the Alps once so far but satisfied. If it proves too thin I can always go to Home Depot for another plastic sheet. But I am enjoying the quietness of a nylon floor saver compared to the crinkliness of plastic sheeting.

Footprint for ALPS Zenith/Zephyr 2
This fit my Zenith 2 (which is also the same tent as the Zephyr 2 but with different colors). Fit seems fine, materials fine, quality fine. Price was very good compared to most other similar tents footprints. Only thing is the tabs on the corner contain two holes plus the buckle, I'm not really sure what or how the poles and the main tent corners match up to the two holed footprint corners but it seems to work fine any way you place it. Taken on two backpacking trips so far this year.

Great!
My boyfriend is really into hiking and backpacking and camping and all things outdoors. He knows a lot about buying lightweight durable backpacking gear. He picked this out and we have used it three times since then. It has worked great! Not the thickest in terms of comfort from the forest, but light enough to carry and keeps the tent dry. Also our three dogs have not yet shredded it with their nails, so that is always good. Worked great in the wilderness or at an established camp ground.

After five years it still works great!
I have owned this floor saver along with the Zephyr 2 tent for over five years and used it on dozens of nights of backpacking and camping. Overall it has performed great. One big positive is that it is extremely durable. I used this on the John Muir trail in the Sierra Nevadas where it was always placed on rocky or hard ground for over 3 weeks of use, and there are still no holes or tears in it. Also there is enough space in the bag to stuff it back in afterwards without needing to fold meticulously to fit again, although I rolled it when I had time as well. I did not give it 5 stars because of the size. The floor saver is true to size, and fits to the tent, but only just so. In my experience a little larger than tent size is better to ensure no water issues on the edges of the tent, but I have not noticed any problems besides some small dew/dampness on the edges of the tent in the mornings. Its a good deal on Amazon, and well worth the investment.

worth considering getting, glad I got mine
got this to pair with my zephyr 2 tent. as it says, it is a floor saver, and it does that well. having that extra layer between nature and the tent helps elongate the life of the tent, and so far its seems to have done that well. I wouldn't say it is a necessary product, and a normal tarp would probably be fine, but I like the small exact footprint of this as it saves on weight.

i actually used this foot print as a tarp when bivouc'ing in little yosemite valley. put one above us and one below us, with some fallen logs around, in 45 degree bags, and my wife and i were comfy in 26 degree weather ( taken by a thermometer inside my friend 0 degree bag. i have since sold the tent and footprint to a friend and they say both are still going strong.

Perfect little floor saver
Very light-weight and obviously goes perfect with the Zephyr 2. First thing I noticed was that it folds up to almost nothing and weighs nothing so it can be stuffed just about anywhere in your pack. Second thing was that the material it's made out of isn't loud, heavy and annoying like most tarps. This is a perfect little floor saver for your tent. A must buy if you own the Zephyr 2.

It's fine.
I bought this to go with my Zephyr 2 tent. I'm not entirely convinced it was worth the money, but okay. You can probably just buy a medium weight tarp and cut it in half and get what you need for about a third of the cost.
