Works great so far for cutting firewood with electric chainsaw
So far, so good.Back story:My wife gifted me with a chimnea for the urban back yard...aluminum so that it won't rust or be knocked over and broken by the dogs. The problem is that it is smaller than normal...so a standard firewood sized piece of wood won't fit in all the way. This product is going to be used to cut each of my existing logs in half, so that they fit in the chimnea.I just got this and tried it out last night...and it worked great! This weekend I will use it for a lot more logs, but I love it so far.I have this attached to a 16" electric chainsaw. It was mostly setup when it arrived, and was super easy to attach.Per the instructions, I will check it every 2-3 logs to make sure it isn't slipping...I am very excited that I even found this thing...I never knew it existed.Edit 11/4/14Tried this out by cutting in half a lot of firewood...worked very well.It did slip a little, but the instructions do say to check often...so I do, and it works great...

Works Great So Far
I'm by no means handy but this thing is. Install was a little clumsy but once installed proper & according to the instructions I've gone through large piles of branches and sticks with ease. Just make sure to tighten the 3 bolts every 15 mins or so (also in the instructions). Used on an electric 12 inch Chainsaw.

Came loose from the bar. Instruction say not to ...
Came loose from the bar. Chain munched it up. It also hacked up my chain. Instruction say not to over tighten the set screws; however, the aluminum body spreads when you tighten the set screws. After tightening all the screws, if you go back to the first one, it is loose. You find yourself continually tightening the screws. Once it came loose, it munched up a chain. A roll pin that stops the left leg from falling too far just fell out.

Great buy for us it works great
Bought this for my husband and he's used it almost everyday since the 7th and he said it works great and is a big back and chain saver. The only issue he's had is that one of the stopper pins came out, but he seen it put it back in no issues with it the rest. He wishes it would of came with a manual and that the arms went down just a bit further to cut bigger branches, but he's very happy with the job it's done so far.

Slips off bar and chain eats into the metal
I attached this to buck a few 3" to 6" limbs that I never got to. It worked pretty well for about 15 or 20 cuts. I could jab under the wood and really go to town. It was refreshing to be able to cut straight through while a log was on the ground without worrying about slamming my bar into the dirt.Then... it stopped working. The block that clamps to the bar of the saw rotated/slid and caused the back end of the block to push up into the path of the chain. Then, the saw stalled. When I inspected, the back of the block was chewed up and quite a few teeth on my chain are done for. The bar still appears usable, but it took some scoring from where the screws scraped along it. The chain is scrap.I had this on a 14" Poulan that is pretty much the ideal size for it. I'm glad it wasn't being used on a more expensive (or more powerful) saw. Looking back, I'm actually pretty lucky nothing broke off (the chain saw buddy or the chain). Even though I had protective gear on, it could have been a bad situation.I will NOT be using this again. Safety issues aside, it added a significant amount of weight to the saw and didn't really speed up the process too much. Yes, I could make the actual cut faster, but it took more time to get the chain saw buddy under the wood properly without kicking it around. All in all, it didn't save any time.I give it two stars (and not one) because I think it could be useful if you've got a perfect scenario for it and you anchor the thing to your bar better. Perhaps drilling some holes in your bar so the screws can actually set into it instead of just clamping it -- then the thing won't slip or slide or twist.

Drill dimples where the set screws go!
I live in a Skoolie. I bought this because our wood stove can only handle wood that is 10" long max. We bought a half cord of oak and found out how hard it is to cut 16" peices of wood with a chainsaw. Found this little game changer and it is amazing. The only thing I did was tighten it on and then use a drill to dimple the marks left by the set screws on the chainsaw bar so the jig wouldn't move. This thing is awesome!

Set it up properly and it works like a dream.
It can be a little tricky to set it up properly, but once you do it is a great tool. I had an ever growing pile of 5 inch and smaller timber that is hazardous to buck for firewood. This tool makes safe and short work out of it,
