The only way would be to use pliers to straighten out the loops that hold the clip, which would damage the metal and make it virtually impossible to reinstall the key clip at a later date. **Q: Where is this made?** A: no idea, I didn't keep the packaging. The leather is heavy duty but the key links are poorly tempered. I place my large keys in the side pockets (2). **Q: what are the closed dimensions? When folded shut is it about two inches wide and four long? It holds all my keys securely without any of the jingling that comes with carrying my keys on a lanyard and makes it much easier to slide them into my pocket when I need to. There's definitely a limit to what you carry in the side pockets, as whatever is in them has to have a little bit of a bend to get a secure snap around the keys. However, the pocket behind the key holders is surprisingly secure for being open on both sides and will store cards without affecting the snaps. The key fob holder is another major plus for if you share a car with your wife and have to pass the key back and forth on a regular basis.Overall I do genuinely love this thing. Its great quality and feels like it will last me a life time and then be the coolest item at the estate sale.
