A VERY useful alternative to dremel style charpeners. This is a 110v plug in machine. If you carefully follow the setup instructions, the machine will sharpen UNIFORMLY and easily. The instruction manual sets out in detail how to set up the machine. Comes with 2 grinding wheels. ***Now for the downside: Professional chain sharpening machines work like this one, but use 5 1/2 inch grinding wheels, which are much more common than the 4 1/4 inch that this machine uses. Difficult to find diamond sharpening wheels in that size. The above machine has mostly plastic parts although it is sturdy plastic and works nicely. The professional ones are all metal, but you pay for it.All in all, this is a good machine and i am well satisfied with it.

Have owned this about a year now. I have learned the importance of using this with a harbor freights analog caliper to really get uniformity in left/right grindings. Definitely noticed if you take the time to get the recommended settings/angles for the different chains you may be using, it really works well. Especially good at getting a chain that you may have used a hand grinder or hand sharpener a number of times on in the field and needs a reset on getting each tooth back to the same length and angle. Watched a number of you tube videos on this product to improve the end result

As a beginner, it took me awhile to figure everything out. It seems to have great instructions for sharpening Oregon chains but if you are using another brand... takes a bit more to figure out. Once you do, it is very easy and fast to sharpen a chain. I recommend watching several youtube videos before you begin using.
