It's what most people are missing out on in their asian food. That and oyster sauce.

Let me start off by saying I rarely write reviews since well I don't have the time. But after needing to buy fish sauce since I am a Asian American and I use it very often. With that being said....Please disregard the other reviewers. I feel that it's unfair to give a bad review due to lack of knowledge. It has nothing to do with this product. If you understand what fish sauce is. It's fermented from fish. Expect it to smell horrible. Not due to expiration date. Fish sauce is in about 80% of Asian dishes that clearly nobody even notices. But ever wonder what that taste was in that dish you loved so much during that one time in that hidden Asian restaurant? But just couldn't pin point that taste? Yeah it's fish sauce.I've never bought nor imagined fish sauce would be sold on Amazon but happy I did find it. And I'm completely satisfied with this product. It came nicely packed, thankfully since spilled fish sauce can be a true nightmare. I was a tad worry about that. Price is pretty decent but I can find it much cheaper in a Asian supermarket but that's a given.Overall? This is a great product that is under rated due to the strong smell. Yes it will stink up the house just as cooking in general leave a scent. Nothing candles and febrezze can't solve. So please don't be discouraged to give this a try if your aiming for a authentic Asian dish. It's the same concept of giving a restaurant a bad review because you just noticed you dislike crab cakes. It had Nothing to do with the restaurant and how the meal was made. It's just your own personal reference.

better then thai kitchen fish sauce

First, please ignore the low-star reviews written before me by people who used fish sauce for the first time. Fish sauce is supposed to smell. That said, there is a small truth to their review -- this fish sauce is noticeably stinkier than other brands but it's not an indication at all that it's bad. It actually reminds me of the smell from a fish sauce "brewery" I visited during a trip to Vietnam. It smells unrefined, put simply. That in my opinion can be a good thing as it may mean it's less processed. The flavor is definitely like any other fish sauce, maybe a tiny bit bolder and saltier. The ingredients are simple and there's no hydrolyzed protein (unlike what's found in other brands). Not my favorite as I prefer something less sharp but it's definitely something I would buy in a pinch if needed. The difference is negligible as others wouldn't notice the difference between other brands.
