    An unexpectedly great mouse

*by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2016*

An unexpectedly great mouse. I had originally bought this mouse as a low cost temporary replacement for my previous gaming mouse, but I found myself quickly falling in love it. The Sharkoon FireGlider Optical has now become my primary gaming mouse.---I'll start with the incredibly accurate feel of the mouse. When I first started sliding it around I noticed something different about my cursor's movements within the first hour. It really feels like there is no built-in acceleration, unlike many other mice I've used in the past, leaving the cursor's movements to feel true to my hand's movements. Tiny little twitches in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are accurately interpreted and allow for great flick shots with the AWP in competitive play (raw input on, mouse acceleration off).---The left and right mouse buttons have a nice firm click allowing me to rest my fingers on them without accidental clicks, while having a shallow depression. This may not seem like it matters a lot, but to avoid using rapid fire scripts or macros you have to rely on your own fingers instead; the shallow depression with a definitive click allows for me to use my Dual Berettas or Tec9 as fast as a macro-based rapid fire would be. With my main go-to sidearm being the Dual Berettas I noticed a big difference in how well I can use them since switching to the FireGlider Optical, and have found myself becoming known for my skillful use in the Dualies. Bearing in mind my lack of use of any rapid fire macros, that leaves the rapid fire button open for other uses for me. I have num0 bound to it using the software that comes with the mouse (more on that later) and use it for switching which shoulder the camera looks over in APB: Reloaded, or fly/swim down in World of Warcraft, so I still find it useful in many situations.---A nice little feature I didn't expect from such a low-cost mouse is the little weights you can place in it. I use a hybrid between claw and palm grip, leaving my mouse movements based on arm and wrist, so I like back end of the mouse a bit more heavy than the front, helping create a pivoting point closer to my wrist in its movements. The mouse is already very well balanced so for my case I ended up only needing one of the weights installed. The change is subtle but I have found it does help in those AWP flick shots in CS:GO.---The software ended up being nicer than I had expected for a mouse of this cost. It had a pleasant look, and was very easy to use without it being too "streamlined". The first thing I did upon receiving my FireGlider Optical was install the software and get to setting up my DPI settings. At first I was little concerned about the lack of DPI switching up and down buttons, but considering I only use two different DPI settings, the profile switcher ended being good enough. I setup my DPI settings in two different profiles, leaving all the buttons the same between the two, one DPI setting for every day gaming use and another for fine tuned movements I generally use for digital art or photo editing. One minor annoyance about switching between the profiles is clunky popup right on your screen when you do, but that's easily remedied by uploading your settings into your mouse and uninstalling the software from you computer; I now switch between profiles easily without the annoying popup on my screen.---The size and shape of the mouse is an incredible blessing. I have large hands while half-way relying on a palm grip so that leaves mouse shopping a nightmare most of the time. The FireGlider Optical is big without being clunky or too heavy (you can always add weights in if you like), and the shape isn't the standard symmetrical, or near symmetrical dome shape you find in a lot of mice. Instead there's a nice easy slope from left to right across the entire mouse leaving your wrist closer to its natural resting position, and the back slopes down, and gently widens out allowing for your hand to rest comfortably on it, and with the addition of the thumb grip, leaving an easy palm grip on the mouse without it slipping or dropping each time I need to lift the mouse off my mouse mat. I have finally found a mouse that fits my hand properly without having to cramp up my fingers to use it well.---One problem that I have had is that my thumb grip started peeling off after heavy use in a hot and humid climate. However it had allowed me to discover how great Sharkoon's customer support is with their fast and pleasant replies and quick warranty claims.---All things considered the Sharkoon FireGlider Optical is a great mouse, especially for FPS games. For a skilled gamer it has allowed for my performance to improve. I highly recommend this for anyone in need of a very accurate, sturdy mouse.

    Good mouse, slow shipping.

A decent mouse, feeling very sturdy, with nice buttons. The first one I got took forever to ship here, and came defective, breaking in days.I'm ordering another one, and will update this review with more information after. Also takes a long time to ship, it seems. It's software is basic, but gets the job done, and has a few well-placed programmable buttons, the DPI button that lights up is very nice aswell.

Amazing product for this budget price-point. Get this over any other sub-$40 mouse.

*by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2016*

The mouse is great for the price. I would strongly recomend to those on a budget. Works better with claw grip, as I can't fit my palm on the top of the mouse without my figers hanging over the front, so I rest my finger/hand knuckles on the top of the mouse instead. I have used the mouse extensively in gaming for 2 years and am so glad I purchased this mouse. It held up remarkably well, with only slight fading on the stickers on the bottom and on the sharkoon name on the top of the mouse, but other than that it stayed in prestine condition. Although it is all plastic, it is still manages to feel high quality and retain higher end features like on the fly dpi adjustment, side buttons, removable weights, and superb ergonomics.
