The Dirty Game: Uncovering the Scandal at FIFA

Very very disappointing.
Im giving it 2 stars because of all the goid that this author dud. Maybe it's a UK-US thing but this book is nearly unreadable. It's written in a very wink-wink cryptic manner. Like you need to be on the inside to "get it."I was expecting a nice, logical expose but this is more like Dominic Dunne drivel. Send me your address. I want this out of the house.

Great Read
Just finished the book, must read if you're a football fan, absolutely floored by the scale and depth of the corruption. Kudos to Andrew Jennings for not letting go of the tiger!

Interesting read now considering whats going on with FIFA and Sepp, it also makes you question big business still dealing with FIFA and the corruption that must be going on.

Not Andrew Jennings best.
This is not the most well written book I have ever attempted. I am a real fan of Andrew Jennings - both his print and TV work, but this book falls way short. I'm sure there is a lot of good information in here, if only we could understand it. Don't buy it thinking it's going to be like his wonderful expose of the IOC - 'Lords of the Rings'. That book was coherent, well structured with each point clearly explained. This book is more a wild spray.

Decent but not Earth Shattering
It's hard to find a more committed investigative journalist than Jennings in his prime. For this reason, I would have rated his original Fifa masterpiece 'Foul', released in 2003, five stars and waxed lyrical. The Dirty Game is a typical anti-climatic sequel that fails miserably to live up to the first instalment. Instead, Jennings comes across almost bitter at times proclaiming himself as the man who brought down Blatter and offering plenty of personal blasts at all of those who mocked him along the way. There is little new investigative insights and it is all a tad disappointing. That said, Jennings still sits at the top table when it comes to exposing Fifa corruption and he has a right to feel some niggle given he blew the whistle on what was going on long before Blatter and his team were toppled. For those who loved Foul this is still worth a read. However, if you want the most up to date expose around the fall of Fifa it is best to pick up The Ugly Game by Blake and Calvert which is an astonishing piece of investigative journalism.

This book lays out the absolutely shocking state of FIFA. The level of swindle of the FIFA top gangsters by far exceeds anything that one could have expected, even worse than the IOC "merits" also disclosed meritoriously by Andrew Jennings. It is hard to imagine that anyone can ever Again have confidence in this organization. The writing style, however, is somewhat staccato and unfortunately makes the book harder than necessary to read but Andrew Jennings deserves great praise for having undertaken this heroic effort.
