Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N Smart Repeater and Range Extender (SR150)

I've bought these extenders before -- and they're so easy to setup and work so well that I decided to buy a pair of them for my sister to setup and I'd talk her through it on the phone since she's in another state and not tech savvy at all. Well.. I'd normally rate the product as 5 stars from my prior experience with it (have had 5 of them), except both of these arrived with opened plastic packaging. One of them even had an ethernet cable attached (which does NOT come with the product). One advertised the correct factory default amped ssid, but had a password on it. A factory reset (had to hold 30 seconds!) corrected that and the device is setup /working now. The other though advertised somebody's home network ssid- and I'm still unable to factory reset it (I tried several times holding the button for at least 30 seconds). I"m going to have my sister direct connect a cable to it to see if we can get to the mgt menu and hopefully it won't have a password so can be reset - but I haven't had time to look at it again. Bottom line, I'm miffed that I bought these as "new" in the product order description, they came as used without any attempt by the vendor/mfr to refurbish/reset them first. Not good... hopefully nobody else will have this experience.Update after mfr feedback:First, I appreciate the quick response by Amped Tech support - it's obvious they care about their products and I will continue to buy them. To clarify, my 'store' for my order through Amazon says "New" and also says ships from and sold by Amazon.com. The actual invoice says "sold by Amazon LLC". Hope this helps with whoever needs to focus on their refurbished -vs- new listings. Bottom line, if I can't get the 2nd one factory reset I'll contact Amazon for a return. Thanks again Amped!Final update: both "refurbished" devices are now working. I never could completely factory reset the 2nd one using the reset button, but fortunately the prior owner had left the original admin login intact so when I connected direct over ethernet, I was able to reset it properly.

I have a linksys wireless router/switch in my home office which I have been very happy with for about 4 years now. my house is heavily constructed in concrete (I live in an earthquake prone zone) and many rooms on the second story of the house dont get signal from the linksys. I have tried the linksys equivalents repeater (I logically stayed brand loyal when buying a repeater) various times, even buying two in case the first was faulty, and was never able to simply get the unit to function. I am quite computer literate and rather handy in general and honestly could not get the units from Linksys up and running consistantly.Well let me report that this unit from amped wireless took me exactly 7 minutes to install and works like a dream! I HAVE RARELY BEEN SO PLEASED WITH THE EASE OF INSTALATION AND FUNCTION OF AN ITEM IN MY LIFE. I cannot emphasize how easy it is; plug your PC or laptop into an included ethernet cable to the amped wireless unit, open your browser, go to the "website" wizard, search for your existing wirless router, connect to it, give the amped wireless unit a name...el voila! you are configured. easy as that. Every room in my house now has 5 bars.If you are in the market for a wirelss repeater to extend the range of your existing wireless router, don't even think twice, but this amped wireless unit and navigate the web from anywhere!

After reading several reviews of WiFi range extenders, I settled on the Amped Wireless SR150. I needed to extend the WiFi over an additional 30 foot range. It has done the job. From the source WiFi, I can download at 10 Mbps. At the Amped WiFi, I can download at 7 Mbps. So, there's a slight degradation from the source, but it is not noticeable for steaming movies or surfing the internet. All in all, this product did the job that it promised. It has extended my WiFi throughout the house. I have unplugged and plugged in this device several times and I have yet to have any issues. So, I must recommend this if you're looking to extend your WiFi.~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE (3/29/13)All in all, this product works. However, there are instances when this product resets for no apparent reason. This can happen when it stays on for long periods of time or when you turn off the source and then turn it back on. Usually, I'll just turn off both devices, and the turn them back on in a specific sequence (source first then the WiFi extender). That usually does the trick. Yet, I'm not inclined to try any other extender. It still seems to work for me 80% of the time.~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE (7/5/13)This is my final update. After over a year of dealing with this extender, I have to say that it has become a problem. It no longer can connect to my home network. I have rebooted it, updated the firmware, turned it off and on. All to no avail. So, the life of this product is little over a year. I don't think that it's worth it. So, I can no longer recommend this WiFi extender.

This item works exactly as promised. I was unable to use my laptop in my kitchen, but now I am good to go anywhere in my house. Although the directions were very explicit, I was have a computer issue and was unable to set up the repeater. I phoned their support number and was on hold for quite a long time, but I was determined to get it to work. A wonderful young woman, Chelsa, came on the line and got me up and running. First of all she was extremely nice and so patient. We had to go through a lot of steps due to my computer issue and she stayed with me every step of the way and was encouraging and positive all the time. She never tried to rush me and seemed genuinely interested in my satisfaction and success with the product. I wish I could clone her and put her on the phone every time I need product support or service. Thank you Chelsa, thank you Amped. Sorry I can't give the product more stars, but this is the first day I am using it. So far it's great.
