Akira Volume 6

So much better than any other series!
This is the last volume of this epic saga and guess what, it will give you so many feels when you read through the last of the pages. Although it is said to belong to cyberpunk genre I personally feel, it is much more and vast than the limits cyberpunk mangas reach. It is an amalgamation of sublime gorgeous art and brilliant writing. Akira is a manga that is so hugely influential yet, at this point of time it is not too often credited by the masses which is quite a poor state of affair. Another thing I felt rolling my eyes through each and every page is that the dedication of Katsuhiro Otomo sensei is unquestionable. Most of the contemporary artists wouldn't be able to dedicate themselves into their work so much as this man did. Its a work that is Immortal within the minds of those who read it. The philosophical aspects are of humongous scale and depth. I hardly ever saw this kind of versatility within a single work. Its as if the entire world and its reason of existence and the existence and extinction of life is summarized in concise. It also deals with Birth and death aspect, as to say the cycle of generation and regeneration. Otomo sensei clearly knows how to meet ends. Akira is an icon of several other iconic series. It was the beginning of a great age of innovation. Hats off to Katsuhiro Otomo and of course, AKIRA. It will be always remembered!!!

A manga classic
Akira is an absolute must-read for any fans of anime, manga, sci-fi or graphic novels in general. The first manga I ever read, I was hooked on it from the pages of Manga Mania back in the 90’s and Akira will always be one of my favourite titles, one that I have read and enjoyed several times over the years. Highly recommended

A graphic masterpiece.
My son thought this was an awesome and epic book, both as a graphic novel, and as a book in it's own right. A must read for anyone over 14.

This book series has an end to the story
This is a great story and the art is very good. I really enjoyed this series when I was younger and it still captured my attention as an older person. I have all of the books from Marvel/epic comics which are colorized. I bought these big books for the nostalgia of the comic and I wanted to see it in black and white and if it was a direct port of the Japanese versions but alas it is still the same mirrored version that Marvel/epic put out in the late 1980s just black and white. The mirrored version has all the drawn panels reversed meaning that characters are holding weapons in their right hand or other items which is somewhat annoying as every one in this story is left handed, that’s also a mistake in my own opinion by the artist/author Katsuhiro Otomo, I’m also not a fan of the black and white as it is hard to truly get a feel of the visualization of this book. Marvel/epic deserve praise for doing a great job colorizing it way back when and it’s very beautiful to read it that way because you actually see the finest details of the drawings. The volume format is beautiful to hold with a smooth hard poster type cover. All in all this is a great book to have.
