LOVE it!! Making Grain Free Challah
Wow, I LOVE the small size silicone challah pans for making two GRAIN FREE loaves! I'm using Elana's Pantry recipes for grain free breads (look her up, everything turns out yummy!), and I can handle a pinch of flour just fine, to justify calling it challah. Some say they use 3 grains of buckwheat, so figure your solution out, or don't worry about it. It is just nice to have that beautiful challah shape on our table more often again, and being able to use our beautiful tray and challah cover. I take it out when done, then I apply poppy seeds to each 'hill' by dipping my finger in a light egg wash, then the seeds, and roll my finger over the hill & pop back in oven on a cookie sheet for 5 minutes. Someone will appreciate my rambling into details. Loaves do not stick. I will be buying these as gifts often now. I am very happy with these molds!

Great idea - made a great looking challah
Someone asked how to make the bottoms flat. When the dough rises to the top of the mold, take plastic off, replace with greased cookie sheet, weight it down. Let rest then bake. I take the bread and rolls out of the mold and let bake so I get a nice even color.I love this little mold - it made exactly the size I needed for 2 people to share for friday night dinner. I used 2 Rhodes Brand frozen Texas rolls. I did find that you need to put this mold and the rolls mold on a cookie sheet for stability. I think being silicone you need to slice off 5 minutes from the time on the package of frozen rolls. I wanted to order the medium pan but the description is off and I don't really know how much smaller this pan is than the medium.

Works great
I use this for my gf challah and love it. I had another brand of mold and after some time my challah started tasting yucky, like soap, evenAfter many rinses. So far so good on this brand.

Suuuper small
This is labeled at 4 x 8” but it is much smaller than that. I will be exchanging for a medium.

good challah pan
Silicone Braided Challah Pan is great for making gluten free challah. Since gluten free dough is soft and therefore not so possible to braid, this pan really helps me. Instead of spending hours trying to braid the soft gluten free dough, I use this pan. I just put the dough in, and it comes out shaped like a challah. This is a great pan to make challah that looks braided without actually having to braid it. You can use this pan for regular challah, too, but I only use it for gluten free because my regular dough can be braided by hand. My gluten free dough is more soft and therefore harder to braid, so I use this pan.

Highly recommended for uniform challot
I purchased these items because I was pleased with the large size and wanted the capability of making small challot when we have few or no guests. The resulting challot are quite uniform. I find that they come out slightly convex on the bottom side (which is the top when you start baking) but this is not noticeable when you put them on a board or tray. I think they are indispensable for those like me who are not experts at braiding and another advantage is that sticky dough challah recipes are much more easily processed. For some reason the manufacturer did not indicate on the directions the exact baking times for the small pans. I find that the same conditions recommended for the large size work fine: 350 deg.F (177 C.) for convection ovens, 20 mins inside the pan and an additional 10 mins after removing the challot from the pans and placing on a baking tray. I have had good success using a bread machine challah recipe I found on the Internet as well as an eggless recipe, "heavenly challah" which can be found in the book "The Secret of Challah." The latter recipe always rises swiftly and is virtually foolproof. After at least two years of experience I would recommend increasing baking times for 2-3 minutes for both stages. Do not remove at the end of stage one unless the top (bottom of finished loaf) is quite brown and thus avoid possible sticking to the silicone pan.

Makes challah making easier
The product is to make challah, puttting the dough in, and getting a braided challah. It's cute. I haven't used it yet, but I plan to this week. It is small, but if I start making more, I will order a bigger one.
