Lightweight headlamp, powerful brightness, long-lasting battery and highly rain resistant.
The PETZL Swift RL headlamp is a high-quality ultra-trail product. It's very lightweight, has a long-lasting battery, and generates a bright, bright enough glow for safe travel.I bought this headlamp 10 months before writing this review. I was lucky; the price was $61, well below today's $119. So the only negative I have is the high price compared to other headlamps. I would suggest the manufacturer offer discounts frequently... They'll definitely take over the market! But let's forget about the price and talk about the technical features. It's a very comfortable headlamp. Once you put it on your forehead and adjust the rear straps (which is very quick), you'll forget you're wearing it. It doesn't loosen or bounce around when you run. The front of the headband is padded, so it won't rub or bother your forehead or temples.I have little hair, so I shave my head completely. I wear a small elastic garment over my head and place my headlamp over it. This way, I control the large amount of sweat that occurs during races, and it also makes the contact between my forehead and the headlamp even more comfortable and cushioned.I bought this headlamp because it was a mandatory accessory for two races I had a couple of months later. The race started two hours before dawn. I used the lowest possible setting with automatic brightness control, in other words, the way I saved the most energy. The results were extraordinary. I was able to run comfortably on dark terrain like mud and dense vegetation. The light it generates is powerful, enough for the demands of ultra trail running. But the real test for the PETZL Swift RL headlamp came at the next race. I participated in an 80-kilometer (50-mile) race through a tropical rainforest. It rained most of the night, and the mud caused me to frequently fall on the descents.During the periods when it wasn't raining and I looked down at the ground, I could see all kinds of ants and spiders of all sizes fleeing the light and my footsteps. It was also common for large and small flying insects to fly around the headlamp, and even bats to fly past my head (I thought bats were blind, but they actually perceive light). I also heard loud screeches of animals in the distance that I couldn't see.I'm sharing all these details because when it started to rain and the rain kept pouring down, I was very scared. Just the thought of the flashlight going out because of the water was very worrying. But the hours passed, and the PETZL Swift RL headlamp performed like a true warrior. It was on for about 12 hours, and the brightness never dimmed. When I returned home, I tested the headlamp, and it stayed on for almost 25 hours on a full charge.Another important detail to highlight is the light intensity produced by this headlamp. In ultra trail races, the path is marked with reflective strips. So during the day, you can easily see them by their orange color, and at night, you can detect them when they reflect the light from your headlamp. I can say I had no problems at all; the headlamp's light intensity allowed me to detect the reflective strips up to a range of 20 or 30 meters. The experience of this race was so intense that I discovered the importance of having a reliable light source. It's vital. That's why I decided to carry not just one PETZL Swift RL headlamp in my vest for future races of this complexity, but two. I purchased the next one on Amazon Spain with a gift card.I hope this long review has been clear and answered any questions other buyers may have.

Love this for long runs in the dark
This is a great headlamp when I'm out in the dark with the cougars and other beasts lurking around the bend. I have really great visibility.I enjoy how easy it is to adjust up and down depending if I'm running uphill, down, or flat. The battery life is amazing. I never need to use the brightest setting, but I do right at twilight and I'll explain why below. The reactive lighting is a bit of a sham. It totally works, but part of the reason the battery life is so long in reactive mode is because it doesn't use the focused beam. Standard mode uses both. When I run, I used the middle of the three settings in standard mode so that the focus beam is enabled. I've run in that mode for 90 mins and only used 20% of the battery. Right at twilight when I can see ok w/o the headlamp, but not quite enough, I like to switch to the highest setting in reactive mode. It gives me just the right amount of light to enhance my view and when I'm going in and out of trees, it brightens when I need it.It wears well, isn't too heavy, and adjusts easily. Easy 5 stars. Very happy I purchased it.Note: I haven't run for more than a few hours in the dark, so I haven't pushed this to its limit. If you're looking for an 8 hour lamp, hopefully others have reviews on that. Good luck!

comfortable and great adjustability
I researched many headlamps for use in the jungle of Panama and Costa Rica. I have purchased several different headlamps in the past with mixed reviews but I always return to Petzl. They are high quality, good adjustability of the lamp, rugged and long battery life. I really appreciate the comfortable fit and light weight. The adjustable lumens is very important to me as I am observing nocturnal animals and I don't like to attract too many insects, which loved the brighter lights. I highly recommend this light for lite hiking and long stays in the jungle

Too heavy, headband comes loose while running
This headlamp is too heavy for running. To keep it from flopping, I really have to tighten the strap. While running, I'm always conscious of the fact that a big heavy object is on my forehead, and this takes away from my enjoyment of the run.The strap-tightening system isn't very secure. On long runs, it gradually comes loose, and I have to stop to tighten it.One nice feature is the auto-brightness adjustment. When I go into dark areas, such as under bridges, it brightens. That's a nice way to save battery, and it reduces the need to make manual adjustments while running.

Early Morning Runs
This really helps get out and run before the sun is up, either to beat the heat or dealing with short days in the winter. It works very well and stays in place during the run. Its very easy to adjust.

Yes
Love it. Light, comfortable and bright. Lasts long enough when you don't need a darn floodlight.

AMAZING!!!
I have used MANY headlamps, and actually own several different PETZL lamps. This one is by far superior to the rest (except maybe my battery pack one). The brightness is unmatched and I really needed the brightness for my trail runs. It shows FAR and CLEAR! I won't be getting rid of my other PETZL lamps but this will be my go to for nearly everything. I love that it is rechargeable. I am soooo tired of the old school battery replacing and if you don't use for awhile then the batteries explode or leak. I have not been able to test the battery life yet as my runs have been about 1-2 hrs and the light has been strong entire time so I haven't pushed that limit yet. I like the fading in and out depending on seeing near or far. Love love love it
