The NooElec LaNA is a high-performance, ultra-wideband low-noise amplifier module designed for software defined radio applications. ## Description

FOR FULL SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS, PLEASE REVIEW THE PRODUCT PAGE AT NOOELEC.COMLaNA is a very high performance, wideband LNA module designed for general purpose SDR applications. Each module allows for 3 different power options, but you should only power with one option at any given time! The recommended power input through the SMA output port (for bias-tee capable SDRs like the NESDR SMArTee XTR) is 3V-5V DC. Alternatively, if you don't have a bias-tee capable SDR, you can use the external power options--the microUSB port, or DC barrel connector via the included DC to microUSB adapter. The recommended external power input is 3.3V-5.5V DC. Though there is protection circuitry on LaNA for overvoltage conditions--and voltages of up to 12V DC should still work and will not damage the device--it is not recommended for long-term usage. Kindly note that damage resulting from overvoltage conditions would not be covered under the standard 2 year warranty. Each LaNA module has an internal EMI shield to protect the sensitive circuitry from external interference and is fully ESD-protected.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If i purchase this amplifier will i require a dc block with the airnav flightstick, powering the amplifier with usb "external power" (no bias tee)**
A: I would say yes, Airspy R2 wants one and yours is broadly similar

**Q: May need dc block when using usb.. does that mean it (cool!) adds bias-tee?**
A: I used it with USB and never need led a dc block. It wont add bias-tee, only the sdr sticks do

**Q: Doesnt rtl-sdr already have 40 db variable gain,  how does this differ?**
A: Hi!  The noise figure of a system is dominated by the first LNA in a chain.  This LNA has a noise figure well under 1dB, while an RTL-SDR has a noise figure above 6dB.  This is a massive difference and so this LNA would give you a much better SNR while still allowing you to increase the overall gain even further with the built in LNA of the RTL-SDR.
