I never had a microwave wave guide cover fail over 40 years of using microwaves. But my 4 year old Kitchenaid microwave started to arc in the cooking cavity. Apparently, this is something that happens when the cover is damaged or dirty. Took the old cover off and measured it and easily found this replacement. Easy to install and works like new.

Our microwave was sparking. A youtube video suggested replacing the waveguide as a first step. The waveguide replacement fixed the problem. This product fit my microwave perfectly without needing to trim the edges down. Whirlpool model WMC30516HZ

It is important to have the measurements of the old wave guide pretty precise before you order the replacements . We have a Paderno microwave that was only a few years old. We really like the quality of this microwave. While warming up some frozen fruit one morning got a lightning flash coming from inside the microwave warming area, buzzing/humming noise for a couple of seconds like something was shorting out, and when I opened the door there was a slight smokey smell. Did a bit of research and decided to try replacing the wave guide. It was looking a little discoloured. We bought these from Amazon. Perfect fit. We have been using the microwave now for over a week since we installed the new wave guide and there has been no problems. Hopefully that was all it was. Just a new wave guide needed. The new wave guide from Amazon was easy to install (matter of seconds) and all is good so far. Very pleased we did not have to go out and spend another $200+ on a reasonably good quality microwave to replace this one. Nice change in todays world to find an affordable fix to ease your day along a little bit. I would certainly recommend trying this solution if you run into a similar type of encounter while using your microwave.
