Phoenix Sun Sails SSH185SKS Triangle 16.5’ Per Side Desert Sand Color Sun SailPhoenix Shade Sails are a great addition to your home, office, or wherever you could use a shade zone. Phoenix Shade Sails provide UV protection from the sun, a cool place for children to play, or an outdoor shaded area for entertaining guests. Set up in a permanent installation or use for portable shade. Each of our shade sails comes in two varieties: Home and Professional. The home sails have a lighter weight material and use galvanized 6mm hardware. These sails are lighter and easier to install and are available at a more economical price point. The professional sails use a heavier material and 8mm Stainless Steel hardware. If your area of intended use is subject to strong winds or significant precipitation, you may want to consider the professional option. All Phoenix Sun Sails come as complete kits including all necessary mounting hardware. The 18.5' triangle sail kit includes the 18.5' per side triangle sail, 2 turnbuckles, 1 carabiner, 3 pad eyes, 3 9' lengths of rope, and 12 wood screws. The sail has 3 triangle rings, one sewn into each corner, which resist twisting or movement compared to D-rings. All mounting hardware and triangle rings are made from 8mm stainless steel. The sail itself is constructed from a heavy duty 320grams/m2 polyethylene weave material which resists mold and mildew and is easy to clean with simple soap and water. Unlike cloth or canvas materials, the polyethylene weave does not absorb water or humidity. This water resistance, together with built in UV protection, ensures Phoenix sun sails stand up to years of outdoor exposure.

Great quality and looks too!
I ordered two of these 18.5' triangle shades and am glad I did. The material is of high quality and does a great job of creating shade. The hardware was heavy duty and worked well. The hardest part was finding places to fasten it to since we are renting a house. On a corner of one shade we had to stretch a line about 10' to a post. We purchased nylon climbing rope and burned the end after cutting to prevent unravelling. Because this line is stretched infront of our sliding glass door, it was low enough to feel like it would require ducking under. So, to solve this problem, I purchased a 96" long, thick garden stake from Home Depot for about $6 and propped it close to the corner of the sail. The pointy end is next to the house in the ground. When the wind blows hard here in Albquerque, the pole falls down allowing the sail to billow in the wind.On another corner, we had to stretch the sail over the garage and attach it to a drain on the top of the flat garage roof. To prevent scraping/damaging of the material, we taped a clear plastic garbage bag to the roof corner so the sail could shift without rubbing. Because of the corners, we lost very little shade. I found a video on youtube that explains how the arc cut out width is determined for shade sail making - a requirement to allow the shade to stay tight apparently.Since we used existing anchor point locations, the sail anchor points are not in exactly the right places, yet we were still able to get the sails tight. To get the sails really tight, my husband used ratchet straps, tying the rope corner only after the ratchet was very tight. It did require tightening up after a few days, but not as much as I had anticipated after reading other reviews. The two sails together, slightly overlapping do a great job of providing shade and should last a long time.

Good but...
We have not yet hung the shade, it seems like a great purchase. However, my complaint is on the hardware enclosed an thus the 4 star rating. There were NO instructions at all. There were 4 hooks included, but 1 still had the balls in the holes so it couldn't be used. Another hook had a hole that was too small so it could only hold 3 of the 4 screws. So, I'd still recommend buying it, but be prepared to purchase additional hardware and do some research as to how best to install it. We opted for 1 hook on the house, 1 hook on a 16' tall cedar post and the 3rd on a 14' tall cedar post. We cemented each 6" square post in the ground 4'. We also opted for cable instead of the enclosed rope to affix the shade to the hooks.

Bought this over the holiday season and finally installed it now that it's nice out. The sail seems very tough and well built, the screws for the anchor hooks seemed small but after installing all four screws I don't think the anchor hook is going anywhere. Provides a nice amount of shade and lets through just enough sunlight to keep the area well lit under the sail. So far very happy, hopefully it lasts years.

Sail Shade Great, Custome Service FANTASTIC
This is a great product. We needed a missing part and customer service followed through wonderfully. We've had 2 sun sails up all summer through some mighty winds --they are fine. The hardware is Sail Boat grade.Year 2 Update: We put them up again usinng the hardware we left in place over the winter (which still looks shiny brand new) ... You really need to know how to tie a bowline knot to hook these up. Look on youTube for bowline instructions ... the bunny comes out of the hole & around the tree ...

lives up to promise
We installed 2 sails over our deck. They've been up only a few days but we instantly felt the cooler temps on our deck. Modern look of sails is appealing. We mounted them to house and wooden posts. It reminds us of some resort hotels we've visited. Figuring out the best positions took some time and several adjustments but worth it.Had a shipping issue but customer service was quick and responsive. Pleased with our purchase and would recommend.

Nice, but I should have bought 2
Great material. I've only had it for one season, but it's been through all types of weather and survived excellently. My only complaint is that it is a bit too small; because of the triangle shape it looses a lot of shading ability. I should have bought 2, or a rectangle, but the triangle looks so much nicer, and 2 triangles would have needed too many anchor points.Review your knot tying because you'll need to tie a solid knot at each point.

Love it!
Love this sail shade! I have a big pool screen enclosure and was tired of the room an umbrella stand took up, so I put this up inside my screen enclosure for extra shade and eliminated the umbrella. VERY nice quality, very nice hardware, looks so chic and gives a nice ambiance. We are just thrilled, everyone that comes over wants one! Shipment was fast and cheap, would highly recommend.

Cool Shade
I love the way this looks in my back patio, ive gotten lots of compliments on it. I was considering building a patio but this was the right choise. It took a bit longer to setup than expected, that's because I wanted it to look like a pro job, very happy with the outcome. Wish they had more colors for other sections of my patio, I'll keep looking.
