1 year later - They're in the back of the closet.
Like most 5.11 products, they look great. Unfortunately, looking great in a catalog or on a mannequin did not translate into looking great on me.To put it into context, my go-to duty pants are 5.11 Taclite Pros and Strykes. If you’ve ever worn both, you’re probably familiar with the loose and roomy feeling from the Taclites and the slightly more snug but tougher fit in the Stryke. So when I say that most people should avoid the Ridgeline, I know what I’m talking about. In a nutshell, here’s the primary pros/cons of the Ridgeline:Pro:-Great design, bridges the gap between overt and covert operator pants without sacrificing pockets/capacity-The rip stop material and Teflon coating that makes 5.11’s so great are just as good with these too-Plenty of colors and sizes-Now that they’re discontinued you might be able to catch them on sale or closeoutCons (just one, but it’s big) -The fit is a bit wacky compared to other 5.11 products. *DON’T* buy them without trying them on first. When you do try them on, walk around. Squat, bend, kneel, cross your legs. Test the fit very thoroughly. For me, I tried them on at a 5.11 store and still had issues because, while they seemed to fit right in all the right places, I didn’t discover how wrong I was about that until the first time I leaned forward to get out of my car and got squeezed and pinched in a place NO MAN wants to be squeezed or pinched. After reading other reviews and waiting for the pitch of my voice to drop back down below soprano, I found a lot of people having similar problems. The inseam and leg length is shorter than you might expect. The entire cut and arrangement of the material is different from any other 5.11 Men’s pants. At first I thought I needed to just break them in, perhaps lose a couple pounds, but ultimately I never managed to have a day wearing them that wasn’t uncomfortable. What sealed the deal and resigned the Ridgelines to the back of my closet and eventually the recycle bin was when a female friend/coworker pointed out the eyes of people walking by were darting downward to an area I’d prefer was kept off their radar, LOL.So, buyer beware. Don’t buy them unless you’re certain they’ll fit you in all the right places. Because if they don’t, the neighbors will hear you scream.

Seriously the Greatest Pants Ever.
These are seriously the greatest pants I’ve ever owned. Just this week I was back home in Idaho and I wore a pair into a river fly-fishing (it was hot no need for waders) and then dressed them up with a black button down and black dress shoes for a light formal affair. Seriously how many pants can even pull that off? And, yes I got approval from my wife that I didn’t look ridiculous. She said “if I didn’t know what the style of pants are I never would have known they are more of an active pant, they totally pass for a casual dress pant”.I bought 5 pairs over the last couple months because I dig working in them so much. I really hope 5.11 reads this and continues making this style or a very similar style. Build quality, cut, fit and I love the storm color. I wouldn’t even mind a darker grey as well. The added front side pocket is awesome for a phone and knife, and I love the rear pocket options as well. I’d love to see a high thigh, low profile, phone sized pocket similar to what Dickies does as well, but aside from that I have no complaints. Carrying a phone or whatever in the front/side hold pocket is comfy (much more so than a front pocket) but a little more on the thigh side and a touch lower would probably be a little more comfy. Either way these pants rock. Very comfortable when working and moving, breathable, and lightweight. I seriously may just buy 5 more pairs and never wear another style of pant again.5.11 keep making these bad boys!

Super Slacks.
My agency issues TruSpec twill slacks and they suck. They're stuffy, have a permanent crease, and get all sweaty after eight hours at a radio console. I hate them almost as much as I hate working day shift. These pants are light, well-cut, and have very subtle extra pockets for my spare key, my dip can, and my knife. The belt loops are a bit tight though; I'm wearing one of those glossy leather belts about 1/4" thick and can't tuck the slack -- probably best to get a web belt, but I don't care enough. The Teflon finish is no joke. These things bead water like a duck and won't stain easily. The only thing I really miss is an elastic band to keep my shirt tucked in, but it's a fair trade. If you too hate your department issued pants, and want something better that nobody will notice and rat you out to command for wearing, buy these and go forth with my blessing. I do not accept any responsibility for that one employee who tells on you for not wearing the issued uniform; keep your mouth shut and don't show them off.

Great pants, but be careful with the sizing...
I really want to 5 star these pants, but I've had a frustrating time with them thus far. The first pair I ordered was in my typical size, 32x32, in stone. When I got them, I was disappointed to find that they were about an inch too short in the leg and about a half inch too small in the waist. They were still wearable, certainly. However, they become quite uncomfortable if I try to conceal carry IWB -- normally a 32 waist and slight stretch fabric would be perfect for me, but there just isn't enough room. That being said, the pants do everything else perfectly. They are durable, flexible, and work great on hikes in both hot and cold weather. I like the reinforced front pockets, which hold a folding knife, multi-tool, or cell phone perfectly. And I particularly like the dual back pockets. I will say that the front pockets can be difficult to access, especially when sitting down, because of how high and small the opening is.I liked them enough to buy a second pair, this time 33x34 in battle brown, thinking that if the 32x32 was too small, these measurements should be perfect. THEY'RE HUGE! This pair must be true to size, because they are way too big in every dimension...In the end, I don't know if 5.11 has consistency issues with the sizing, or if I'm in some kind of limbo between sizes, but I'll be taking these to a tailor to see if they can't make these wearable. I don't hear of many other people having this issue, so don't let it deter you. These are great pants.

The do-it-all-go-everywhere-trouser is born....behold !
I'm now a keen convert of 5.11 trousers...and these are my favourite. They strike the middle ground between a kind of straight leg jean and a pair of more technical outdoor cargo trousers. And that is EXACTLY what i was looking for(take note 5.11)...you could, and probably will, wear these for every occasion and not look too out of place.Light enough to wear all year round(I think?).They move with you when you stretch, squat etc,due to the flexible nature of the material, but also they don't especially look, sound or feel synthetic, which is high up on my list .They aren't fashionably skinny, a little bit "Dads Jean" cut...but i don't mind that at my age....comfortable indeed. Colours are great too,i have 2 pairs in the Brown and Storm..... I LOVE 'EM !

Absolutely Great.
Rugged, comfortable, great fit (even for the more athletic built legs). Easy care, quick drying. Well worth the money.I use these for work, they're cut to look like jeans, smart and covert enough. The extra pockets are brilliant. The stretch material makes them comfortable enough to work the longer shifts, use for travel and not be restricted in movement.

5.11 can’t beat them
At 6’4 I always struggle with trousers. But you can never go wrong with 5.11s for comfort and fit.

Well fitting hard wearing trousers
Use these trousers for work, I need to be able to kneel, squat and some times crawl to install equipment. The trousers (34w, 32l) fit well and stretch nicely.

Great quality as always from 5
Great quality as always from 5.11. Excellent fit, very comfortable. Can basically pass off as chinos and go with most anything - my new favourite trousers.
