A friend of ours, who also teaches at a cooking school and has a line of cookbooks, recently took a "cooking tour" of Italy and this was one of the many items she brought back. She made us an excellent traditional Italian meal that incorporated this pasta and we loved it. I'm sure the amazing flavors of the dish had more to do with the ingredients and her hard work than the pasta, but the pasta added a flare of something different. It was very memorable and as they say, you eat with your eyes first. We have since started purchasing Bucatini and was excited to find this brand on Amazon (also surprised to see other brands). We stayed with this brand. The diameter is about 1/8 of an inch, 12 inches or so long and the center is hollow. It's not hollow like Macaroni. The hole is much smaller, almost a pin hole. It's a very hearty pasta. Doesn't take much longer to cook (15-20 min?). Kids tend to get a kick out of it as well.FYI....I found that some of the pictures shown on Amazon from Cav. Giuseppe Cocco don't match the actual item. So don't buy the item based on the photo or the label you see in the photo. I almost made that mistake. In this case, make sure the item description says "Bucatini", otherwise you might end up with a different pasta.

Nothing better than this!

Pasta as a meal, it takes 12 minutes to cook in a big pot of salty water, they are thick and very starchy. Great for "ragu" and 'bolognaise" sauce that sticks well to this long macaroni style pasta.
