Will this shred pictures of my ex wife?

Yes, it will, but I use my ex to shred my paycheck.

It does microcut paper, but it does not microcut credit cards. Only cuts them in half leaving the CC# and other info intact. I ordered this in January and requested a replacement in April and the replacement does the same thing. I think they need to update this in their description because I thought the credit card would be microcut as well.

Does it have a removable basket to empty paper or does the top of shredder have to be taken off

Don't pay any attention to replies dated before 2019. The newer models for the 8 page and 12 page Amazon Basic Micro-Cut paper shredders DO have removable baskets which, for some reason, Amazon neither mentions nor illustrates in its operating manuals.

The person who said it was loud would not have purchased this model. Even the first one I purchased at home is much quieter than any I have purchased before. Also that one cut strips of about 1" long. I bought this ASIN# B07PGMMNC6 as listed above, earlier this year for work. It also is very quiet for a shredder and now cuts into about 1/4" pieces. The only thing I would change is to have a bin with higher capacity.
