Excellent book!
I am a 33 year veteran reading teacher. This book offers a strategy that I have found to be very successful with improving fluency. I highly recommend it!

Good follow up to other workbook
I did Teach Your Child to Read in 100 easy lessons and the structured lessons each day worked well for us. This was a good follow up to that. It's much shorter and we do 1/2 lesson per day (when we aren't skipping days). It's designed for a classroom but works well enough for us and we go at our own pace. Only 20 lessons. Each lesson includes a short story. The short stories each have a little picture with them and includes some brief activities associated with the story. This is for the 1st grade level. The second grade one doesn't have pictures which disappointed my son. They are not fancy pictures, they're basic but help you visualize the story.

Exactly what I was looking for!
Love this product - I am a reading specialist in an elementary school and use Fry's top 300 sight words to supplement the other curriculum i use, much of what I have was more paper and pencil seatwork/homework type activities, but not this one - I can actually use this one to teach from and to help my struggling readers and primary students learn phrasing while reading. My students can read the leveled passages and work on fluency of these very important, need to know words.

Great Fluecy Resource
I love this teaching resource. I use it with my second grade students who are in need of extra support for building fluency. The passages are short, yet packed with meaningful text and vocabulary building exercises. The two CDs included are a plus.

Fluency tasks
Timothy Rasinski is THE fluency guy. I had not worked with very young readers before this semester, and am glad I came across this text. I attended a seminar where Dr. Rasinski was presenting and he has some excellent ideas (backed by quality research) on ways to improve fluency in readers.

Good book, dull voice
Excellent book, but the voice on the DVD is dull and monotonous. I haven't listen all the content yet, so can't tell if it all matches the text.

Great for developing a fluent little reader.
This is quite an advance on things we have in UK. It is a a suitable resource for home or class. It builds high frequency words gradually into sentences which children will come across a lot - "high frequency phrases" and was developed by Dr. Fry, the person in US who, like Dolch, has a high frequency word list which can be crossed reference with UK National Literacy Strategy. The CD has all the resources in the book on it, so the pages can be printed as individual worksheets, and a CD Rom with the spoken phrases in which go with each lesson. The CD Rom with spoken phrases will also help attention and development of "to self" reading. It is very well structured.Excellent for non-boring drills! Liked this very much indeed. Especially the smiley faces which your child colours in or ticks off when they have got the skill. Eg. "Can you read this now? Yes"
