OH NO!!! THE KIDS ARE LOVING VEGGIES!!!!!
I had tried one horizontal spiralizer before and returned it because I couldn't get the suction feet to stick to my textured countertop. Instead, I went with a vertical spiralizer that didn't need to be stuck to anything. I liked it, but found that the catch bowl for the veggies was too small to be practical. I had to empty it twice for every zucchini I spiralized. So here I am, back at a horizontal spiralizer. I purchased this one because it comes with 5 blades. This one can do things like angel hair type of vegetable noodles and curly fries in addition to the usual ones found with spiralizers. I was tempted to give this spiralizer 4 stars instead of 5 because it also does not stick to my textured counter, but the problem was my counter, not the spiralizer's so I give the spiralizer 5 stars and my counters 0 stars!!! So here is my solution, for those of you who have textured counters. I have a glass dining room table. I spiralize on that table instead of the counter. It works great. Other solutions are to suction the spiralizer to a baking sheet or do it on your glass cooktop. I thought that going to a vertical spiralizer was the answer, but it wasn't. As for the spiralizer itself, it is very straightforward. You put one flat end, cut by you, if necessary, against the spiked disk at the end of the crank. There is a round place where you put the other end opposite the pushing spiked disk. The Briefton's Spiralizer can take as much as a 10" long vegetable between the two ends. Once your vegetable is secure, simply turn the handle while gently pushing forward and lo and behold, veggie spirals!!! (do NOT forget to put a dish in front of the spiralizer to catch your spirals!!!)If you have children (and spouses acting like children) who do not want to eat their veggies, I have found that they all universally love veggie noodles. You don't even have to disguise them. Maybe it's the shape novelty, maybe it's because of the crunch you get when lightly sautéing the noodles, whatever the reason...THEY'RE ENJOYING EATING THEIR VEGGIES!!!! (Make sure you have your heart medicine ready because you might feel faint when you see that happening)If you are trying to lose weight and just can't get rid of that pasta yearning, I can't begin to tell you how good zucchini noodles with vodka sauce tastes...and chicken parmesan? OMG. SO good. It's also wonderful for people who are gluten intolerant. I guarantee you will not miss your pasta. This is one of the best kitchen gadgets I have purchased...and I just love gadgets. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this tool.

Best to Use STRAIGHT Vegetables
I have only used this once as I've had it only a week. My first impression is that it is a well designed unit. The 5 blades offer a nice variety to keep meals interesting and the features of each blade answers most applications I would want to use (angel hair spirals, fettuccine, regular spaghetti, slices, and curly fries). The suction cups on the bottom of the unit are very strong and immediately and firmly stuck to my counter top. Just a firm pull up released the suction cups. The unit was easy to assemble and very well packaged. I spiralized butternut squash and zucchini. I FOUND THAT ONE MUST PAY GREAT ATTENTION TO PLACING A STRAIGHT VEGETABLE AS CENTERED AS POSSIBLE! If your vegetable is off center or not a straight piece, the spiral is inconsistent. Because my butternut was a tiny bit curved at the front and straight in the back, I ended up with half small julienne-type cuts and half long noodle length spirals. This made for an inconsistent texture. The directions do state to center the vegetable and I would also stress the importance of having a VERY STRAIGHT one as well. I use squash from my garden so I cannot be as selective to find the perfect one as I may be able to in a store. The butternut dyed the white of one of the blades with an orange color (not a big deal but it won't come off). Also, the butternut squash seemed to be too firm for the plastic nature of the unit. As I was turning the handle, I felt I was fighting against something plastic snapping off from the stress. The unit did fine but I am going to be careful when using harder vegetables. The zucchini worked perfectly in all respects (I had a straight piece)! There is about a half inch of vegetable that does not get spiralized. I baked the butternut and steamed the zucchini and both turned out great! I am looking forward to using this unit more! Overall, I like it very much. I am giving this item 4 stars instead of 5 because I have my doubts if it is a long lasting unit primarily due to the plastic handle...Time will tell.

Well-made, easy care and fun gadget
My wife and I absolutely love this gadget! We chose this spiralizer after reading numerous reviews of a number of different models from several companies. We are so glad we decided on this one! It is everything reviewers claimed it to be. It just arrived yesterday and we tried it out last night after watching the video on the Briefton's web site showing how to use the Spiralizer. It is very easy to use. The suction cups on the legs hold the machine securely while you spiral your vegetables or fruit. We tried medium and huge sized zucchini, and carrots to create "noodles". It worked great leaving only a small core and about 1/4 inch off the end, which was a nice size for munching or chopping up with the "noodles". We were impressed with how easily it turned and went so quickly with no effort on our part. The blades are very sharp so you must handle with care when cleaning them and that's no doubt why it works so well. The blades washed easily using a little brush in some soapy water and then rinsing. The handle portion slides out for easy washing also and the rest of the machine was easy to wipe clean. The short platform is perfect for placing a bowl under and you just keep pulling the spirals out as they pile up. We really like the fact that the 3 different blades store right on the machine keeping them safe and less likely to get damaged or lost. We also appreciate the Briefton's website. Once you enter your purchase information, you can download a free 20 recipe cookbook using spiralized food. The recipes look great and we look forward to trying them. They have helpful videos and from emails we have already received, we believe that our satisfaction is very important to them. All indications are that this machine is well built and will service us for many years.

Yes!
I spent absolutely ages in trying to make up my mind which type and model of spiralizer to buy. Having definitely decided on this style, it was relatively difficult to really discover how sturdy this particular one was. For every spiralizer of this type with good reviews there were always a couple of negative ones on how sturdy and effective they were.In the end it came down almost to sticking a virtual pin in the list and I closed my eyes and went for the Brieftons.I was impressed to receive, within hours, an online link from which to download a recipe booklet and further instructions and a reassurance that any problems would be dealt with promptly.Next day the spiralizer arrived, and it looked a little daunting now it was actually with me, and I left it for a couple of days whilst screwing up my courage to give it a try. Of course the only way is to get on with it, so armed with the blades and some veggies, i produced veggie noodles and some slices of onion and yellow pepper for a stir fry. it was delicious and the machine was easy to assemble using the clear instructions. However i did nick my little finger on one of the blades whilst learning how to remove the blade from the holder. Now, filled with zeal I have delicate apple slices, spiced with fragrant mixed spice, drying out in my oven, which I hope to nibble on later!Yes, a great buy which I'd highly recommend for anyone struggling with which model to buy.It is sturdy for its price and is very true to its description. I think that mine is going to become a favourite kitchen gadget.
