Great product. Excellent Value.
This hatchet is perfect for general use around the home or camp. I use the tool mainly for making kindling from split rounds, and trimming small to medium sized limbs. The 1.8 lb head is the ideal weight IMO for these purposes - not too heavy so comfortable to use, and not too light so it cleaves effectively without repeated hits. I have used many "general use" camp/DIY hatchets ((Fiskars, Estwing, etc.), and virtually all have head weights between 1-1.2 lbs, which is not heavy enough for efficient, easy kindling splitting or limb trimming, unless working with small diameter pieces. Note that Intertool also makes a 1.3 head weight hatchet, but I've found the 1.8 lb version is the perfect head weight for the uses I describe above. This hatchet is well made, durable, arrived well packaged and sharp, and has held its edge over repeated uses with no signs of damage or poor construction whatsoever. This hatchet is an excellent value, and I am extremely pleased with it.

Very tough little axe
I use this to finish off little stumps in my back yard. A little crude but it does the job. Mine came pretty sharp so no additional sharpening yet. The protector over the metal blade is good to keep it secure. I’ve also used this to dig up roots where they shouldn’t be. This is a handy tool to have around the house. The quality is strong and I’d rather have this than a wooden axe because the wood ones tend to break on me. Remember to wear gloves to avoid blisters if you’re going to use it for a tough job.

Handy Hatchet!
Nice hatchet, great weight but wasn’t very sharp when received. Had to sharpen it prior to first time using it. Other than that, very pleased with the price point and durability so far!

heavy duty and weight
perfect camp axe. heavy, not for backpacking. cuts wood, makes nice shavings for fire starting and works for tent stakes.

Axe seems good quality. Packing, not so much.
OK ...I haven't used it yet, but the axe seems solid and well made. But I had to leave a review right away because check out how this was packaged: they threw the axe loose in the box WITHOUT THE BLADE COVER ON. Said cover was in a plastic baggie rubber banded onto the axe, instead of, yanno, safely covering the blade. Ergo, the blade was COMING THROUGH THE BOX when I got it. Thankfully it wasn't covered in blood, so I assume no one got hurt, but that was lucky. Someone could have been. So ...beware, if you order one, when you pick up the box. I hope the warehouse amends this so that delivery folks don't need stitches with future orders...

Great budget axes
Incredibly sturdy. I fell trees as a hobby, but I purchased this hatchet at the solid price point to play around as a throwing axe. I've yet to throw the damn thing. I've used it to limb felled trees, and surprisingly it's my best hand hewer. I've used it to to shape logs for outdoor stairs to add some character into the yard instead of just grading. I'm pretty hard on axes, I've chipped some fiberglass handles before even though they've been functional it irks me a little. The blade itself is holding up exceptionally well. I sharpened it with hand rotary on arrival and keep up with the hone with whetstones. It keeps an edge well and I've so no wear except for the expected coating loss. It also comes with one of the most simple and effective blade guards I've ever seen. A sort of plastic spring mechanism. If they sold the guards separately I'd buy them for all my other axes. Edit: both the hatchet and 24 inch are still going strong after 6 months of heavy use.

Great little ax!
I love my trees and my wood-burning fireplace, and this little ax helps me trim limbs and split seasoned wood. Great safety cover, nice weight in hand, sharp blade, and perfect size for camping or just tromping through the woods. Very happy with this purchase!
