Rocket Man
As a former NASA Specialist, I have to say—this model rocket is A-MAZING! The design captures both precision and imagination, and it performs far beyond my expectations. The build quality is outstanding, with parts that fit together seamlessly and instructions that make assembly straightforward yet still engaging. What really impressed me was the launch: smooth ignition, stable ascent, and a recovery system that worked flawlessly. It brings back the thrill of real launches but in a safe, scaled-down form. Whether you’re a hobbyist or just getting started, this rocket delivers the authentic joy of space exploration in miniature.

Really Nice Build For the $
Considering I haven’t built one of these since the third grade and I am 42 lol, I think for as frustrating as it could be sometime this turned out great! Will come back after launching it soon and update with a video, but this is an awesome historic NASA rocket that makes an excellent reusable model rocket or scale model! But be ready to put some work in finishing this one my friends!

Patience is key
Probably gonna be challenging if you’re a beginner I underestimated this for sure but it was all worth it i got it to hang in my sons room but definitely gonna fly it

Poorly designed rocket kit, not for the faint of heart.
Ugh this rocket is a pain to build. It's an older model just reissued. It's a level 3 or 4. For example to build thr wood fins need to be glued together. Then filed down to the correct thickness. Then cardboard pieces need to be glued with another wood piece. All of this to make one fin. DO Not get me started on the capsule or escape tower. Trying to glue ill fitting pices to make a cylinder or parts to make a triangle to fit on a circle is ridiculous. Great looking model, not for the faint of heart. Lots of skill is needed. Estes can do better designing this kit.

Challenging Build, But Worth It.
Challenging build, but follow the instructions and you'll have a beautiful scale rocket. I went on EBay and bought a plastic fin and skin kit that made it easier to build and looked even cooler. Launched this afternoon and it flew perfect. Had a great time building and launching this kit.

Update from original kit
I had purchased this rocket about 10 years ago. That was back when the fins were made of plastic and the body and top of the rocket separated during the recovery phase and both ascended to earth under their own parachutes. Now, this kit has been updated. There were a few pleasant, and challenging surprises. The fins are balsa, but you have to glue two sheets together and then sand the leading edges of the fins. Overall it was a fun build and I look forward to flying it this evening.

Coolest looking rocket I've built
I really think this is a good looking rocket. It was not, however, easy to build, and the escape tower was particularly tough (and I'm an adult, not a 12 year old). Nevertheless, it was challenging, and very rewarding when it finally came together. And it flew wonderfully. Some rockets might be put together in an hour, but this took time and patience, and it's now on display.
