Must remove RFID chip from old key!
When I received this, it was easy to assemble from the old key to the new one, however, when I got the new key assembled, my key would no longer start the car. I didn't read this in the product description:NOTICE: This case does not have a chip holder, and you must remove your fob blade to this case, no need cut the blade. It didn't make any sense. I put this aside for several weeks before I came back to try again. After watching several YouTube videos, I learned that the reason why was because I didn't take the RFID chip (it's what tells the key to start the car) out of my old key and put it in the new shell. Once I did that, it worked perfectly.Removing the chip from my old key was not easy. In the original key, it sits inside of a protective molded piece of plastic (see picture) Because I didn't want to risk damaging the RFID chip, rather than try to remove the chip from that, I cut it out with coping saw, and they I had to sand down the protective area to fit inside of the new cover. Nevertheless, I finally got it to fit inside and put it all together. Now I have my key back.Watch YouTube videos to decide for yourself how to remove your RFID chip.

Didn't work as expected
I ordered two and have only swapped one unit so far. The one I did use did not function as described. You slide the blade into and internal blade holder and that wasn't the right size, was off just enough that I couldn't get the screw to line up. Then when snapping the whole unit back together it would not go together. The key I was repairing was held together with duct tape, and was wobbly. The new key when I was done had to be held together with duct tape and was not AS wobbly.I wouldn't call it a complete fail but it certainly didn't work as good as the kit I had a locksmith use. That key was perfect and the only downside is that I did have to pay to have the new shell cut on that one. Will probably do that again if my 2nd repair kit doesn't go together well.

This is the one that works.
This is a life saver. Remember to extract the little black rectangular "chip" from the old one. Looks more like a magnet than a chip.

Great replacement fob housing.
Great fix for my key fob. Original fob was broken when I got the key but got this product and couple days later had a factory grade replacement. Easy to swap parts to the new housing and looks great. Super buy and does have the Honda logo on the back unlike some other kits out there. 10 min and 8 dollars to get my fob back to factory look and quality.

Stronger than the original if assembled correctly
This unit is a direct replacement for the original fob. The key and the transmitter fit perfectly. One advantage that this unit has over the original is that the original uses a short screw that only threads through the back cover of the fob and into the metal key. On this unit the screw is longer and the front of the case is threaded so the key is held more securely, and there is less stress on the plastic case than with the factory unit. To properly assemble the unit you must hold the front and back halves of the case together firmly while installing the screw. If you do this the case will close tightly and be stronger than the original fob. Don't shorten the screw or you will essentially reproduce the design flaw that causes the original fobs to fail (the screw only goes through the back of the fob and into the key).

item works if you're replacing the fob case
My daughter broke the key from the key fob case and was able to install the key to the new fob case.it's not easy quick assemble/install but with a little patience and time, it does work!the most important part - don't forget the RFID chip from the old fob case or your car/suv won't start.it will take time to pry it out.you'll have to use a double sided tape to keep in place in the new fob case.

Easy install and great OEM look
(UDPATE:6/25/2020) Second times the charm. The install was much smoother and better. It took me less than 4 minutes to get it completely set up on my key. I like how the Honda logo is still there once the black tape is removed. First order back in Dec. 2019 was a one off in my book.Had to file of some corners to get the back cover on. The screw holes did not line up quite well but after about 15 min of trying the whole thing came together. Was expecting a quick, 5 min tops, installation but took three times as long.

Poor quality
Very poor quality Chinese made plastic that crumbles. I bought one of these and the plastic cracked and crumbled after several months at the front of the key. Granted, this Honda key design is poor, but my original Honda keys lasted about 8 years before they cracked. These cheap Chinese knockoffs are good for about 30 days of normal use. They are cheap, but don't expect more than several months out of them if you actually use the key and carry it. The American made 3M electrical tape I used to hold this garbage together is far higher quality. I’m shocked at the people praising these things. They must not be reviewing beyond 30 days of normal handling.
