As the token artist-mom I got roped into helping the freshman class face-painting booth fundraiser. Another mom purchased the oil-based paints and boy and I’m glad I picked up these. The colors were super pigmented and covered great, but also watered down and acted like watercolors when I needed them to. I loved that I could move the individual paints around in the palette to arrange them just how I like. And if needed, I could take certain colors out and use them on their own. Washing up this between kids was quick whereas I’m still cleaning brushes from the oil-based paints a day later. The paint certainly held up, too. Between faces I played around and gave myself some galaxy art and hours later a store cashier thought it was a tattoo.I was the recipient of a massive rainbow across my face. Pink seemed to linger but I was able to get it off without any linger stains with a second round of face wash. One kid changed her mind after I started painted with black. A baby wipe easily cleaned her face without any shadows and I was able to paint a light colored jellyfish. The fundraiser was a success and I will be purchasing more Blue Squid paints for the student artists to use in the next face painting event.

Update March 2024: the seller responded quickly after I left my review. I had purchased 7 of these and one is missing the white. They offered me a refund. I would’ve loved a white pan sent to me, but I guess this way they expect me to buy a new set. I’m going to just use a white from a different pallet I have. We need a large white anyway. So, great customer service.The paints continue to work well for my factoring class. We started practicing on practice boards (DIY dollar store clear plastic chopping board with a face drawn on paper and taped under it). The black and green are hard to get off)—-Original review:I actually love these face paints. I bought 8 sets on Black Friday to use to teach a class in February. Just opened them up - one set is missing the white. Ugh!! Of course this sucks when I’m hoping the kids will take the paints home.I will change the review to 5 if I get good seller feedback.In the attached photo of paint on my arm, the paint has been there for about 5 hours and 2 hand washes so it’s a bit smudged. It came off VERY easily with soap and water.I did a lot of research to find the most professional paint with the least toxicity. This brand was the winner. Best for sensitive skin and none of the horrible toxins in the major brands.The brushes that come with the set are good. The paints go on nicely. You’ll just need to get a face paint sponge (not regular make up sponge) for blending colors for the base.

To be fair, our previous favorite face paints were also a set from Blue Squid but the new pro palette is amazing.Each paint pot easily lifts out of the container, which makes isolating the colors you’re using and clean up a breeze. The colors are SUPER vibrant and go on (very) smoothly.I pulled these out with about twenty elementary aged kids and let them all have a go at using them. After two hours (and a lot of faces, hands, arms and shoulders), the pots still looked new and full. I expect these to last a long time.And let’s be honest - I purposely didn’t give a lot of direction on how much water to use or how to care for them. I just set the kids loose.You can tell from the photos none of us are pro-level face painters. I’ll update this review once some of our friends who are much more artistically inclined use them.As for clean up - the plastic table cloths wiped right up with a Clorox wipe. When the paint was wet or newly applied, everything wiped off skin with a wet wipe. Once the paint had dried, a wet wipe took almost everything off and what remained was rinsed off with some soap and water.The only color that seemed to be the exception was green. This could be because my three year old applied A LOT of it to my face (as in, multiple layers) or perhaps the green is just extra pigmented, but in any case, eye makeup remover cleared the lingering green after the wet wipes right off. 💚

I never write reviews but I had a hard time choosing a face paint to buy for my Nebula costume, and I just wanted to make it easy for others and say: this product is a solid, great quality choice. It arrived a day late unfortunately, but once I opened it and gave it a try, all was forgiven.Pros:+ Nice packaging, each color can be taken out individually and has its own lid.+ Amazing color payoff (for the blue in the video I used 2 layers of paint using a brush, but with a sponge I think it would be even better coverage).+ Staying power, doesn't scratch or rub off.+ It does not crack at all.+ Comfortable; doesn't feel greasy or dirty.+ Good amount; after all the painting I did on my arms and face, I didn't make a noticeable dent in any of my paints.Cons:- The faint part on half my hand in the video (around index finger/thumb) is when I accidentally got running water on it. It is water soluble so I imagine if you're sweaty and rub the paint, it'll come off. The upside to that is it washed out easily and thoroughly.- It comes with 2 small brushes, great for detail work but I would like a sponge to cover large areas.All in all, I am very pleased with this product and feel like it was well worth the $30.

These paints are very easy to use and require very little water to activate.I had to use two layer to get a deeper color, I didn’t get to finish the look because of time but think it came out pretty good for a rush job.I had very little cracking or peeling of paint after a 9 hour shift at work, when it was time to remove it come off with ease.I will definitely buy more colors from this maker.

I bought these for our yearly spring fling at the elementary school. We bought a few kits and they worked so well! The kids faces looked so cute. Will buy again next year!

Très bon produit, belles couleurs, emballage hygiénique (1 couvercle par couleur), bonne tolérance dermatologique (utilisé pour ma fille de 3 ans sans problème).

I hadn’t heard of blue squid before until now so I was excited to try these paints out as I’ve always used Mehron but I have to say I’m so in love with these blue squid paints, the palette is so light weight which is easy to travel with for those who travel for work as a face painter etc so I like that fact as my mehron palette is really big and bulky and heavy and not practical for travelling with. These paints were so easy to use and very pigmented and easy to work with, same for removing them they were so easy to remove with no residue left behind. I will note that some shades will stain but that depends on your skin type and where you place the paint everybody is different so you may stain but then you may not so just bare that in mind. But other than that these paints are incredible and I’ve been using these over my mehron paints since I’ve had this palette. The other nice touches I like is that you can remove the paint pans and they have clear plastic lids over each shade which I like to use as a mixing palette as you can mix these paints to achieve your desired colour you are looking for. Overall a great product and I highly recommended them.
