Golden Fries, Golden Memories
When I first got my license, packing the car with your friends and going through the McDonald's drive thru was a celebration and a rite of passage. Discovering the joys of vacuuming out your car went hand in hand with these journeys of self-discovery, and it always seemed to yield a few stray fries somewhere under the seat.I always wanted to eat those fries, because even though they were adulterated by the dirt and the dust they still looked good as new, several months later.Well, if you can imagine a sanitary version of those lost and forgotten fries then you have an idea of what this product is like. And they are just as delicious as I had always hoped. I am not being sarcastic; these things are a freeze dried reminder of your lost youth and will put a smile on your face nearly as wide as that time you first made out in the back seat with Suzie Sassafras.Definitely will purchase again.

Taste 👎
Taste was just OK. Calbee made a huge mistake when they stopped making their previous offerings, like Calbee Whole Cut Lightly Salted.

LIke crunchy fries and mashed potatoes bursting with flavor in one!
Excellent product. Looks like French Fries. Tastes like mashed potatoes. Has very nice cheddar cheese flavor that may remind you of twice-baked potatoes with the shredded cheddar cheese with a crunch minus the skins. Wait, these potato sticks have traces of potato peel on them! I wonder if this is a patented process, as there is nothing out there like it at this point. They have Japanese snacks, too, as I just found out. My local grocer began carrying these Spudkins (American, of course). Easy to eat the entire 5-ounce bag in one sitting, but hey, you know that famous saying from the king of chip makers, right? Highly recommended. They do not have the MSG, and the ingredients list is for the most part decent (perhaps maltodextrin the only concern for some). Not sure if Calbee is an international brand, as their ingredient list seems more appropriate for the German and Japanese market, where many ingredients used in American snacks are banned. Looking forward to trying their other flavors next time.
