A Discovery of Witches: Season One

I did not realize I would enjoy this series as much as I have. I watched the first episode on amazon plus for free but the others weren't. I was hooked after the first episode so much that I joined the extra channel offered by amazon for the 7 day free trial and binge watched season 2. I am a guy so what I am about write may sound funny but it is what it is. It is in fact a love story about forbidden love. Nothing like Twilight. It is about witches, vampires and ghouls but not in the traditional way we are use to seeing them. I have not read the books so I can't say how it compares to them but this is one of my favorite series so far. Not a lot of action but what little there is makes it that much better. It has twists, betrayal and cliff hangers all in it. I suggest watching the first episode and judge for yourself.

We had no problem playing these on our old DVD player. As long as you make sure you order the right country's version, these should play fine.I wasn't sure I would like this series knowing it would be different than the people and places I had pictured in my head while reading the books, but it turned out surprisingly similar. Since it's been several years since I read the books, I was a little lost at first about the characters and their relationships, but it all started coming back to me as I watched. It didn't take long before I began remembering everyone's role in the story and who was good or evil. Good job of developing the actors and scenery to follow the book! I'm now watching Series 2, looking forward to Series 3, and I want to read the books again!

the whole thing, from characters, locations, and plot was engaging. If you like urban fantasy, this was fun and the magic was believable, and there is quite an unresolved mystery at the end. Enjoyed.

Have witches and vampires and demons died out of the modern world? Apparently, not quite. Such is the premise of this wonderfully atmospheric series from BBC. The young and feisty Diana Bishop, on a research project at the great university library at Oxford, somehow summons a missing book from the past. Her discovery draws the attention of Matthew Claremont, a geneticist with secrets. The two, together, will have to confront the mystery of Diana's own past.This otherworldly drama is marvelously well done, deftly mixing the real and the hard-to-believe in eight thrilling episodes. Diana will be awakened to her true place in the world. She will accompanied on her journey by Matthew, who may have his own reasons for the quest. Together, they will encounter almost unimaginable dangers. Very well recommended to fans of the genre.

I purchased Season 1 because the visuals, the music and the story are well done, rich and pure escapism. I also wanted to watch the series w/o commercials or having to pay extra each month for a streaming service. Now, since I own it on DVD, I can watch all episodes (or just one or two of my favorite episodes) any time I want w/o additional cost. I was also pleased w/the price for the 2 DVDs of Season 1. The price was reasonable.

I watched this show and fell in love with it on AMC, and after so long I couldn’t wait to get in on DVD for the right region. I pre-ordered it, waited over two month to get to watch it, and yet when I put it in everyone’s voice sounded lower than I remembered. Things came across slightly lower and slower. True story I have found certain scenes online and synced them up with my DVD and found that if they line up with one set of lines, they quickly separate with the DVD lagging. I’m not sure what’s the cause, but it’s kind of weird. I’m sure at some point I won’t notice it, but for now I do.I give the show five stars, but I’m sorry, I have to knock off for the DVD production

Wrote long review. Wish I had been requested to assist with the facts. PLEASE keep the story as it is told. Yes I lived in the small hidden village where I learned and was shown from my people all told in the first season. I look forward to all the following series. As Amazon has retained so many series that have lasted years I am relying on you to PLEASE be the historians you are known to be. Actually Amazon has given me more joy of life as I am struggling with regaining vision. Reading is difficult. Well worth watching, B!

This series gave me the desire to read the books (The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness) which I have done and that is a different 👍👍review. Back to the BBC series that arrived in here 2019. It is an intriguing series with a great story line, diverse well acted characters, suspense, witches, vampires, magic plus romance, throw in some great scenery, castles, history and you have all the elements that leave you waiting for the next episode. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series so much that I purchased it on DVD to see again. Covid has changed the scheduling and filming of many series, here's hoping Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches is finally completed and arrives in Canada as based on the books the possibilities for great watching are endless.

Estoy contento con mi compra, me gusta la calidad. El único problema que tengo es que no tiene subtítulos en español, si la compran y no saben inglés se van a encontrar con un problema.

È totalmente diverso dai libri, nonostante tutto se considerato una cosa a parte l'ho molto apprezzato. Spero che se faranno un film evidenzieranno meglio i dettagli fondamentali del libro.Grazie Amazon
