To the deacoons of the future
As a first time chairman of the deacon board, after reading this book and today I had my first meeting I went in with knowledge that no other deacon had other than my vicechair. I also purchased this book for him as well. We discussed what we had read each day and was on point for todays meeting. I am considering now purchasing this book for all of the deacons. The board of deacons has not been ready for changes for years and it will be hard to get 100%, to follow me at this point but I truly believe that after they have read this book we will all be on the same page and move forward.

An eye opening book
A very Thought provoking book. I now have a broader understanding of the office of a deacon. I enjoyed the clear approach to the possibility of having a woman pursue this office. We must always adhere to Scripture.

Great for New Deacon
This book was a very good read and simple to understand. This is coming from a person who is not an avid reader and I was able to read this book in about two days. I would recommend this to anyone who is just becoming a deacon. This book also furthered my trust in my pastor's ability to teach because he used some of the same scriptures in our ordination service.

A must read,and much needed!
Author, Marvin Mcmickle, provides us with a clear and proper of interpetation of scripture in his book. Not only do we come away understanding the how's and why's of the Diaconate's history, we now know what we should be doing today. The chapter on whether women should serve in ministry is outstanding, and will move many minds and hearts into the 21st century.

Five Stars
Good..until it got to the part about a woman being a deacon and a preacher... A deacon is chosen..Just as a preacher is called...if that's so then the holy bible contradicts itself, and that's impossible. .Thats called misinterpreting the Word..We need to perform surgery on the words that we are reading...pray,,fast,,and meditation .. before we write or speak words that are inaccurate.
