Are these on the thick side or thin?

These are thick cleaning cloths. They are wonderful, sturdy, and well-made. I would definitely recommend them :)

do you use these with cleaning solution?

NEVER dry rub your glasses. you can also use water or fog them up with your breath. Dry rubbing will cause damage to both plastic and glass lenses.
