Orbitsound Spaced 360 Bluetooth Speaker (Black)

Before I write the review, I have two caveats:First, I'm not an audio purist, but I also don't like muddled sound, tinniness, lack of range or other "cheap speaker" flaws. My listening conditions are also not very demanding...I listen while doing other things, like cleaning the kitchen, working on my computer, etc. So I'm willing to compromise to afford something, but only so far.Second, I purchased this for $80, which is about about $220 off the list price. When I say it's a value, I'm talking about the cheaper price point.That said, I found this speaker to be fill a huge gap in the Bluetooth speaker space. I much prefer the sound to that of the $100 and $200 Bose and $200 Sonos Play:1 models. It's not as good as the Sonos Play:5, but it's also not $500.Portability: ExcellentThis is wonderful. The device sits on a tiny charging dock, but can be picked up and carried easily around the house. But it's solid, being about 8" across and weighing a couple poundsSetup: ExcellentAs easy as any decent Bluetooth device. It also comes with an audio-in jack (and cable), for non-Bluetooth sources like a satellite radio dock or older ipod.Sound: Very GoodIt's got three speakers in a triangle configuration, so the sound comes from the general area of the unit, but not an overly specific point.The quality of the sound is good. I got a specific comparison when my phone glitched on the Bluetooth connection, and I heard how the unit sounded versus a phone speaker. HUGE improvement there. The sound isn't perfect, especially on the bass side, but it more than meets my needs.Volume: GoodIt wouldn't work at a big party or other loud environment, but is more than sufficient to provide sound throughout a large room or basement during normal activity by multiple people. Certainly sufficient for an office or kitchen environment.Price/Value: ExcellentIt's a quality device. It originally retailed for around $300, but is currently on Amazon (and other retailers) for $80.Overall: ExcellentI've had it for about two weeks, and am extremely happy with it. My friends who introduced me to it have had it longer, and continue to be happy with it.

Sorry to be the naysayer among a bevy of positive reviews, but strictly from an audio quality point of view, I found the unit to be exceedingly average at best. When I first hooked it up via Bluetooth to my Droid Turbo, I thought I had done something wrong. No where was there the kind of clarity or range that I had heard about. It was average sounding at best. I even tried hooking it up wired to see if that improved anything. Nope - not better in the least. Voices on well recorded material had little of their lifelike presence, and emotional impact was nil.What I note was limited range with nothing special on either end. I'm not even going to delve into the issue of room coverage because of the unique design. I'm strictly sticking to audible range, and to my ears, it was quite limited. In speaker design, you can only cheat the physics so much. Size eventually matters.I double-checked it against a Big Jambox, which I also own. I've never been too impressed with that unit either, from a tonal perspective, but it sounded far better than this in both range and clarity.I've been an audiophile for a large portion of my life, having listened to and owning some very fine systems. I didn't expect such performance from a tiny, low-cost box. But I've heard better from equally priced alternatives. I have to wonder what those praising its sound have listened to before and use as a point of comparison. Those crummy ear phones that come with iPods and smartphones? By those standards, I guess these would be ok. From anyone who is critical about decent reproduced or live sound, this will quickly prove to be a flawed effort.

This speaker, which seemed to have a lot of potential, turned out to be a big disappointment. I am returning it. The sound quality is poor, especially at lower volumes. The frequency response seems very uneven, with problems throughout the spectrum: Giant hole in the midrange, no character to the bass, and harsh highs. Don't like the controls either; can't imagine on such a large speaker why the volume up/down/mute controls would be so small with tiny symbols. And finally, there are some convenience features missing that should be table stakes for a speaker of this supposed caliber: A micro USB charging port if one doesn't want to use the integrated pedestal (or one forgets to bring it along) and a USB port to charge your mobile device.

I ordered this on the recommendation of Guy Fletcher. It has met all expectations and fully lives up to its claims.The sound is unique and full, stereo separation generated in a way I can't understand. Battery life is as claimed and it charges quickly.

bought for my hubby for a birthday gift, he is very happy with it. Sounds good, charges well and lasts well. For the price, i did buy a coloured skin for it but it is still good value for money

This is a premium product for a very, very reasonable price. Great build quality, great sound, great Bluetooth connection. Cannot fault it for what I paid considering this was a Bose competitor that just didn't have the financial backing it quite patently should have got. Lastly, great packaging, really adds to the feel of a premium product.

Really pleased with my purchase. Great for garden parties!
