This camera has small aperture lens surrounded by LEDs all covered by a common glass cover. The camera struggles for resolution, but can be useful for its intended "inspection" purpose. This means one can see small objects with the camera if the lens is positioned correctly.The optimum focus distance of the lens is about 2 inches. Closer than that or further away means that the image is blurry. There is no means to focus the camera; it is fixed focus. At 2 inches, objects are relatively clear (you could read newspaper print). At 1 inch and 3 inches, the newspaper is still readable. At a half inch or more than 4 inches, it is not. An object at great distance is very soft and blury although a house a cross the street would be recognizable.The common glass cover impacts resolution by causing reflection into the lens thereby causing the image to go flat (low contrast).The 1200x1600 resolution is okay. There is a lot of digital "noise" in the image, especially in low light.The device seems to have problems staying connected to USB and would drop off frequently.

I've had this camera for a while and recently put it to good use. I had a hole in the floor intended to route wire, but the wire had long since been removed. I used this camera to find the exit of the hole in the basement so that I could replace the wire without jumbling it up in the insulation under the floor.

Not fabulous, but worked when we snaked out the pool fill pipes. Actually located the broken PVC. Get the longest on they have. Very short focal length. The LEDs in the end are controlled with a dial at the USB end so it's nice to control the bloom.
