Works like a charm!
I purchased this in Sept 2024 and it's still going strong in June 2025. Installation is easy (just watch a YouTube video). Definitely works as intended for the cost. I didn't notice any sort of odor.Something to note, my thermostat was also blown. I had replaced it with the one that came in this parts kit despite it saying it wasn't compatible (although it was similar) and it worked like a charm.

Works on older GE
Heating element was a good replacement for my 20 year old GE freezer. The wire is insulation appears to be silicone which should make it rather durable in that environment, improving the lifespan of my freezer.

Fixed My GE Fridge Quickly
I bought the AMI defrost heater for my GE refrigerator, and it did the job perfectly. Installation was a breeze — everything lined up just right, and it took very little time to swap out the old heater. Once installed, my fridge was back to working like it should, with no more frost buildup or cooling issues. Great quality part and a simple, effective fix. Highly recommend it if your GE fridge is having defrost problems.

Fits our GE frig/freezer as advertised
Easily installed yesterday (with the help of Youtube videos), fit our 2003 GE frig/freezer as advertised, great price when compared to the same OEM part, defrost working again, and freezer and refrigerator back to proper temperatures. BUT, 4 stars instead of 5, because the odor the new heating element put out last night when it went into the defrost cycle was almost overwhelming. Although that odor is subsiding today, our sinuses still burn from the air pollution in the house. Other reviews mentioned the same issue. Perhaps it's some coating on the heating element wire that needs to burn off.Day 4: Odor is continuing to subside, although still noticeable, especially inside the freezing compartment. Our sinuses no longer are burning while inside the house. But, I'd be reluctant to install another defrost heating element like this, without the warranty of a professional appliance repair service that would guarantee no caustic odors from the installation.Day 6: Caustic odor essentially absent. RECOMMNEDATION: If you intend to install this defrost heating element in your refrigerator, plan to put the frig outside and let it run for a week before moving it into your home.

Money well spent!
This freezer repair kit was exactly what I needed. After removing the components from the refrigerator, I noticed that the heating element looked discolored and had intermittent continuity. I replaced all of components in the kit and the refrigerator/freezer is working like new.

Doesn't last
Junk. Ruins your food. 2nd one I've bought - only lasted 5 months. The one before lasted 2 years. Not worth it.

This Kit Saved The Day!
I have an old refrigerator in my garage that has been acting up. Items in the freezer were thawing out and I noticed that the coils in the back were all frozen. I knew it was one of the three items. Rather than test each one to figure it out, I just bought this kit for a fair price and replaced them all. Freezer is working great again. It was super easy to install. I will say this is the second time I bought this kit and that was about 2 years ago so for $16… I think that’s a pretty decent quality if you ask me.

pretty easy fix, just take time
The parts came overnight, and I was able to get my refrigerator up and running an hour after they were delivered. The most time-consuming part of this repair was unloading the freezer, taking apart the freezer trims to access the heating element, letting it defrost (I set up a work lamp with a100 watt bulb to speed things up) and then putting everything back together. Why does the nearly 40 year-old garage fridge just keep running without a bother in the world .... thankfully it was there to accept all the stuff from the refrigerator and freezer.
