Remotec ZRP-100NA - Z-Wave Repeater / Range Extender

Update 1/26/15Turns out the led does blink as described when repeating a signal. Upgraded to 5 stars. Works great! Something I've learned about door locks is they can't do the initial sync with the controller through a repeater like this. This device doesn't support AES-128 encryption which is required for the initial sync and transfer of keys with a secure door lock. Once the sync has happened you can have the open/close signals repeated through something like this.Seems to have solved the connection issue with my Kiwiset lock. It's so unclear what z-wave mesh networks are actually doing or where problems exist. The best you can do with most controllers is pair devices and hope for the best. I didn't see any indication that this device repeated secured signals from encrypted devices, but it seems to work for my lock, which is encrypted. I removed one star because the device claims to blink when it receives and repeats a signal, but I don't get any lights, except for when pairing. Maybe it's not actually repeating anything and one of the other switches picked up the signal, but my lock is working now and I'm leaving it plugged in! Looks nice and mounts to the power outlet so it can't be removed. Not sure if having it in the on or off position makes a difference. Again, a lot of guessing and trying random things. I am really starting to hate z-wave. My primary controller is a Honeywell Lynx Touch 7000.

Did not make much of a difference in the signal and operation of the z wave network. Configured easy, but after relocating to several places, I could not get it to make a difference in the way the network operated.Feb 24th 2017 - pretty much a dud, keeps dropping off the network, keep resetting and re-pairing with controller but just drops off!

So far so good. The strength seems to be great and the pairing process was almost easy. We have an almond+ when we connected this device to an outlet near the plus, it said we had to push it 3 times, the program button, with 1 second, during the pairing process of almond. The pairing process requires you to add a sensor, when you click add, this is when you push the button on the extended 3 times, within a second which is impossible to me. We tried this several times and at no point it time did we receive acknowledgement from the device or the almond.Eventually after about 10 minutes and previous installation issues it occurred to us that perhaps it had linked itself automatically. So we tried the removal procedure. Almond then acknowledged it had been connected and now removed. Once we did this we reconnected it by following the steps. and voila!Hopefully this will help others in their installation process.

After several attempts, this has been the first Z-wave product I cannot get to link to my Universal Device ISY994 hub. I did obtain a connection for about 15 seconds once, but never again, despite resetting the repeater, deleting the device in the user interface, and reattempting another connection. The Aeon labs repeater I bought later has worked fine from the time I installed it.

Connected fine but did not extend the range of my z wave network. It may work for some but not for me.

I needed to improve the reliability of two Schlage zwave locks. The rest of my zwave devices connected to Smartthings worked well, the locks regularly showed "unavailable".I was hesitant to buy this because all of my other zwave devices and the locks are zwave+ and these repeaters are not. However, researching on the zwave certification site showed they support "beaming" which is what the locks use to send and receive data. Price is half of other repeaters, so I gave it a try.Glad I did. Since installing, the locks have not shown unavailable at all. My zwave network responds more quickly and reliably to all commands.The only challenge I've had is that after a power outage, these repeaters did not come back online. They had to be reinitiated by using the "Replace Device" option in the Smartthings Classic app. Otherwise perfect solution.

Instructions complete on installing into the ac plug. Instructions not complete about pairing with Zwave bridge. Could not get it to pair after numerous attempts or find adequate instructions online. Over 1/2 of the ones I ordered did not work. There seem to be two different model types shipped - some with lights, some without. Some looked liked they had been repackaged.
